first-press, extra-virgin Vietnamese fish sauce. Made from only two ingredients, the
freshest black anchovy and sea salt, it's free from added water and other preservatives.
The quality of fish sauce is determined by protein levels. No other fish sauce has a natural
protein content higher than Red Boat. Its packed with B vitamins and minerals, the extra-rich
protein content gives all of your favorite recipes that elusive fifth flavor, umami.
Try it with anything Asian, Caesar salad, pasta, braised dishes or any seafood-based recipe.
This stuff has helped me reinvent Cajun BBQ shrimp, its amazing and worth the price. If you
can find this locally you will pay $7-8 and its worth every penny.
While it seems like a simple mistake, it is frustrating to wait for a shipment only to realize I must do the work to send back their mistake. This is the second time this has happened with Amazon. A little more curation of PRIME products would be *GREATLY* appreciate Amazon. I do not expect this when already paying for the PRIME service and frankly do not wish to pay for it either.
Perfect Cocktail recipe:
2 oz. Red Boat Fish Sauce
Well maybe not the perfect cocktail put I grew up with fish sauce and I can assure you that once you get a load of this stuff it's game over. If you can get your hands on their 50 N then even better! Expensive, yes. But hey, it's not like your gonna drink the stuff... or are you.
This sauce does not reek of old fish, has a very pleasant, mild smell, and the anchovey flavor is very pronounced
and not masked by the salty taste.
Tastes best if sprinkled on the food after cooking and just before serving.
Cooking at high heat tends to change the flavor, so when I do cook with it, I try to keep the heat low to medium.
I have heard that the 50°N version is even better, but have not tried it.
If you are looking for a nice fish sauce, and cant find it in the store, I think you will like Red Boat 40°N.
Oh, and delivery was very prompt and well packed.
