Book Description

Game On! May 2, 2005

Twins Paul and Andy play on the same soccer team. Paul prefers to outsmart his opponents with strategy, while Andy is a much more physical player. Their sibling rivalry occasionally gets out of hand. Will it lead to some unintended consequences on the soccer field?

Exciting sports, intense competition, inspiring stories . . . Game On! is a sports fiction series that presents true-to-life stories of young athletes who must overcome obstacles on and off the field. The characters aren’t always the best athletes, but they aren’t always underdogs either. As these athletes work through intense personal struggles, how will their faith change them—and impact others?

More About the Author

My name is Steve and I am a writer. Well, actually I do a lot of other things and proportionately, maybe I'm not so much a writer as I am a guy who sold out to the man and works an 8-5, and then comes home to write. I've written eight upper elementary novels in a series called GAME ON, and contributed a really insane short story to a werewolf anthology. I've written and compiled art for a book called STAR WARS: THE ART OF DAVE DORMAN, about my longtime business partner and friend. I also contributed the introduction and some editorial skills to his most recent art book, ROLLING THUNDER: THE ART OF DAVE DORMAN. I've contributed a chapter to THE ART OF BASIL GOGOS. In addition, I am the former editor-in-chief of MONSTERSCENE magazine, a popular horror publication from the 90s. I am currently working on a YA novel called THE ROAD TO ATLANTIS about a character I created named Alex Cryss (www.alexcryss.com) and outlining an as of yet untitled novel loosely based on my childhood with a little FLASH GORDON thrown in for good measure.

I am married and I have a 23 year0old son who plays lead guitar and does some backing vocals for thre punk band, TURBOVAMPS (www.turbovamps.com).

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put this book down!, July 31, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Red Card (Game On!) (Paperback)
This is a book about two twin brothers both on the same soccer team who in the begining fight from the time they get up till the time the go to bed. One is sort of close to God and they other wants nothing to do with Him. Slowly through the book they change. In attidude, soccer skills, and relationship with God. At the end of the book, both desperatly wanting to see each other after a situation on the field arises. But both are afraid of how the other one will react.

I thought this was a good book. It shows that you should be thankful that you have a sibiling. Even when they do things on purpose yet not realizing what could happen.

5.0 out of 5 stars 12 year old son enjoyed this book, January 21, 2012
This review is from: Red Card (Game On!) (Paperback)
High interest book for our 12 year old son (his reading level is about grade 3, so the book was more on the challenging side for him, but it kept his interest very well!). Ordering a few more of Stephen Smith's books!

5.0 out of 5 stars My son liked this one., March 9, 2011
This review is from: Red Card (Game On!) (Paperback)
My son enjoyed this book so much he wanted me to order another one in the series. He could relate to the brother Paul who's older brother picks on him in the book. It only took him a little over two days to read it.
