4.0 out of 5 stars Finding bands like this reminds me why I love music..., July 16, 2000
This review is from: Red Clay Harvest (Audio CD)
Cravin Melon has a deep, soulful sound with rich vocals that is completely consuming. A cross between Paw and John Hiatt (and perhaps the Screamin Cheetah Wheelies, if anyone knows of them), Cravin Melon combines lush melodies with southern, country-tinged appeal. Album Red Clay Harvest opens with wistful rocker "Come Undone" and moves through rhythmic subtle grooves with class. Longing, not-really-ballads "Hey Sister" and "Can't Find My Way" are sweetly melodic with thick, complimentary guitar work; strong rock tuned like "Pretend" and "Nobody's Proze" utilize heavy percussive elements to round out their sound. Vocals are heartfelt and sonorous, moving over songs and colored with light harmonization during choruses. Cravin Melon is one of those bands who just feels right -each song on this album offers a perfect picture of soulful rock and roll.

A friend recommended this album to me a few years ago and it instantly became a favorite. I have bought everything I can find by this group. They sound a bit like Sister Hazel--but I think they are even better! The only songs I ever heard on the radio were "Come Undone" and "Sweet Tea" which are great songs--but the whole CD is really good!

My roommate and I are huge fans of this band...they rock...we've only seen them three Xs live and this is an experience everyone should have...when we hung out with them, we realized they are so down to earth and so real (and by the way Doug Jones and Rob Clay are beautiful men)...their music is so soulful

This is CM's first "Big Label" release, and a good start for new fans. Also check out "The Great Procrastinator". These guys are fantastic. I've been listening since I was at NCSU ('97). They play a wonderful blend of southern flavored rock with some country and a little blues added for good measure. They are even better live. They enjoy playing a show and one will be rewarded with a very high quality performance. [...].

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Band, May 25, 2007
This review is from: Red Clay Harvest (Audio CD)
I first found this band on the Pandora music player and have fallen in love with their music. It is a sound that anyone could listen to. This album never leaves my car. My only regret is never getting to meet them in person. I would recommend any of there albums.

5.0 out of 5 stars This one is a surprise., August 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Red Clay Harvest (Audio CD)
I saw these guys in Ann Arbor Michigan warming up for Sister Hazel. I was very happy that I arrived ontime to see this warm up band. I bought the album on site after the second live song was played. This lead singer is a hidden talent, and the complete cd is a winner. I was able to spend time with the band after they were done. Great group of down to earth guys. These guys lack marketing and exposer, but they do not lack talent. This is a great album. Buy it now. You wont regret it. It's fun rockabilly, with some country rock, and alot of blues and soul. Outstanding vocals.

5.0 out of 5 stars outstanding pop album from a bad on the verge of greatness, June 11, 1998
This review is from: Red Clay Harvest (Audio CD)
Red Clay Harvest is the kind of album that's hard not to sing along with. Cravin Melon's live shows are loads of fun and that comes across on this album. Come Undone and Sweet Tea set the crowds off at live shows and you will see why when you here it. An interesting sound from a tight band. Truly worth hearing.
