5.0 out of 5 stars The Best of the Series, April 28, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Red Dice (The Last Vampire 3) (Paperback)
By far this is the best Last Vampire novel. The first 3 arefilled with much action and suspense, though they become a little morecalm and in depth in 4 and 5. This one centers itself in Las Vegas, where Alisa's partner Joel (a vampire as well) is captured and taken to a lab in the Nevada Desert where scientists try to break his DNA code and turn the world into vampires. As Alisa tries to halt their plans, she unearths a new vampiric skill.

A great read, an awesome plot line, and a very original way to present a Vampire story.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Last Vampire Book, October 5, 2000
By
This review is from: Red Dice (The Last Vampire 3) (Paperback)
The first forty pages of this book(the first chapter) was more action packed than any book I've read. Like in his other books Pike goes into great depth, throws in romance, lots of violence, and some blow-em-up scenes. If you don't like books like that, this may not be a book for you, but if you like action in movies and/or this would be a great book for you(read the first two before hand). Something that Pike does in all of his Last Vampire books is vagely describe what has happened in the previous books. I don't like that because you should read them and know what's going on. Over all it was a great book them and I would hope anyone else would give it five stars.

Thank you

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Continuation of the life of Alisa--a Vampire, November 5, 2001
This review is from: Red Dice (The Last Vampire 3) (Paperback)
This is the third book in the vampire series about Alisa. In this book, she attempts to keep her DNA from the hands of someone who would test it and use the results to gain immortality. In this, she runs into an old "friend" who makes the story more exciting. Another wonderful book to add to your collection. I highly suggest it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must read, April 17, 2000
This review is from: Red Dice (The Last Vampire 3) (Paperback)
This is an original vampire series, this is an original book in the original vampire series taking place mainly in Vegas introducing foe's anew. If you like Last Vampire Un and deux then you must read trois. Trust me, I as a devout Pike Fan am telling you that this is the book to read if you have sense enough to appreciate his unique style for writing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Body Count Galore, July 21, 2011
This review is from: Red Dice (The Last Vampire 3) (Paperback)
The body count had to have hit at least 20 within the first chapter. That's always a set-up for a win if I've ever read one. Pike doesn't pull any punches. If people need to die, then they're going to die. And do they die.

Alisa is still Alisa: a five thousand year old vampire just trying to survive and stay in her god's good graces while she's at it. The thing is, all of these human interactions are starting to wear on her and it shows. First Ray and then Joel. It's no surprise that as the series went on, Alisa has become less like a vampire and more like a human, grievous mistakes and all. Her barrier is breaking down. She's getting sloppy and it's getting people killed. And I love it. Well, not the people-killing thing but Alisa's vulnerabilities. It still reads like this slightly stilted, breath of old air type of vibe but her actions are breaking down. The words are becoming just a facade as the vampire dies and she leaves the grace she found protection under for so long.

I like the whole scientific/spiritual aspect of the story, how it started back in history and looped around to the present. I think it makes total sense that should a vampire get captured, the government would want to experiment on it. Imagine the cures! The undead armies! Kind of scary, though, don't you think? Alisa thought so.

Again, Pike doesn't spare anyone's feelings by the end of the book. Alisa was born to suffer, and suffer she will. But you care about her. She's not a floofy, sappy type of vampire. Yes, she feels love and compassion but when a job has to get done, she makes sure it gets done. Alisa is equal parts selfish and altruistic. She sure as hell doesn't want to die but if it means it'll save the greater good, she will. But she'll do everything she can to make sure that she doesn't have to make that kind of sacrifice before actually having to do it.

RED DICE is a great addition to THE LAST VAMPIRE series. I know there are three more books left that I must get my hands on. I need to see where the story goes, especially after the ending in this one. What a cliffhanger! Kind of cruel, really, since I don't have the next in the series to sate my interest. But I'll get it eventually. You can count on it! If you haven't started THE LAST VAMPIRE series yet, I'd highly recommend you do. There's a reason why it was re-released now. It's just that level of awesome.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cool Book, June 2, 2001

I have recently read this book and I was amazed at how well written it was. It was exiting and I never wanted to put it down. The only thing I didn't like about it was the way Christopher Pike shows vampires. He really tears down the way most people think of them as. Other than that, this is an excellent book and I throughly reccomend it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!, November 4, 1999
This review is from: Red Dice (The Last Vampire 3) (Paperback)
This book was really good because it kept itself fast paced and action packed! The only problem I have with this book is the fact that Sita throws away lovers like paper. I mean I would like to see one of Sita's lovers make it past a book and a half ( Joal was actually in half of part 3 because of the fact that he sort of vanished out of action for about 90 pages or so.) I just hope Sita's daughter can make it past the next two books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pike's The Last Vampire series are the best!!!, June 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Red Dice (The Last Vampire 3) (Paperback)
It was sad how Joe wanted to die in peace and Sita brought him to being a vampire. She tried to place him to take Ray's place. She had lost so many loves. For Joe, it's just another one where she can't let him die. I've read the whole series and they are so good. You just can't miss them books of Pikes.
