5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this Book for the Holidays, November 19, 2009

This review is from: Red (Hardcover)
At this busy time of year, take time to buy one copy for yourself and one for your best friend. He or she will thank you for it.

Dylan gives us an exotic, sensual look into true male beauty. The shades of RED amplify the flesh tones and give meaning to desire.

You can feel the models very presence.

Excellent work Dylan. We look forward to your next publication.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Stunning, December 24, 2009
This review is from: Red (Hardcover)
I have always loved Dylan Rosser's photography so I expected the book to contain the highest form of visual art. I was not prepared, however, for just how stunning the photography actually is. The book showcases the beauty of the male physique in the most tasteful and unique ways possible and delivers captivating imagery. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys beautiful photography from a true master of the trade.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Masterpiece from Dylan Rosser, November 21, 2009
This review is from: Red (Hardcover)
"Take my hand, I'm a stranger in paradise, all lost in a wonderland, a stranger in paradise. If I stand starry-eyed, that's a danger in paradise, for mortals who stand beside an angel like you."

These lyrics from STRANGER IN PARADISE barely begin to suggest the wonders that await you in Dylan Rosser's latest masterpiece, RED. You may feel that you are in paradise when viewing page after page of angelic male beauty in this substantial book. But you will be forgiven if a devilish thought or two crosses your mind as well. The ubiquitous color red may contribute to these thoughts, as some pages are drenched in it, while others are more subtly adorned, causing you to examine the images for awhile before the color makes its presence known. However, red never overwhelms the exquisite models themselves, but compliments their appearance. Some of the men are partially covered, many are fully exposed, but all are beautiful. You will find yourself staring at these stunning models for hours if you are not disciplined enough.

It did not seem possible that Dylan Rosser could improve upon his previous book, X-POSED, but he has done so. And of course now it is inconceivable to imagine Dylan surpassing the beauty of RED with his next project. There is no doubt that somehow, Dylan Rosser will manage to do so.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE this book... gorgeous!, November 23, 2009
This review is from: Red (Hardcover)
If you're familiar with the work of Dylan Rosser, it will come as no surprise to learn that the images - and the men - in his new book RED are beautiful beyond belief. To call the photographs striking is simply not enough; Dylan's images are sublime, sexy, and charged with erotic energy and tension that renders the pages of RED hauntingly powerful.

Not to mention incredibly sexy.

I feel as if I've become an expert of sorts when it comes to the images in RED. Not simply because I find the men within its pages to be stunningly gorgeous, but because a few months ago I spent an entire afternoon studying the photographs from cover to cover - here comes full disclosure - because I was asked to write the foreword. Exploring the book again, now that it's been released, I'm still amazed (and sometimes aroused; I'll admit it) at the exceptional beauty of the men in the photos- and the extraordinary talent of the photographer behind them.

Of course the first and easiest reaction when looking at the images that make up RED is to simply be stunned by the hot men. That, of course, is to be expected. Dylan's men - and the way that he photographs them - are magnificent. A closer look at Rosser's work however, reveals many more layers to his photography. These aren't' simply gorgeous men with beautiful bodies- Rosser's images evoke a sultry sensuality not always found in the world of male nude photography. His visual creations - and the stories those images tell - expose masculine sexuality and the beauty of the male form in all its glory.

And yet there's still more to it than that.

Aside from raw sexuality, Rosser's images unveil the sensual - some would say softer - side of his models. His style, technique, and the way he manipulates light, shadows, angles and props, truly separate him from the crowd. His use of even the simplest things - swaths of fabric - reveal his talent for expressing emotion through images. Rosser's images don't simply turn us on; they also take us on a sensuous, carnal journey through intimacy, fantasy, and ecstasy. It's certainly a world I'd like to live in.

In this volume - for the first time - Rosser worked from the impetus of a theme, having been drawn to the color representing energy, love, lust and passion. The most emotionally intense color, only Rosser could harness the conflicted intensity behind this fervid shade and transform it into a visual odyssey as told through the stunning bodies of his men. The result is RED.

I know you'll be captivated by the images in this book. As always, Rosser's guys are diverse in size, shade, shape and attitude. The one thing they all have in common?

They're all GORGEOUS.

5.0 out of 5 stars RED: Dylan Rosser's Most Successful Photographic Monograph to Date, October 30, 2009
By
This review is from: Red (Hardcover)
For those familiar with Dylan Rosser's art the fact that his beginnings as a graphic artist and his accompanying mastery of creating images by manipulating light, shadow, angles and props is well appreciated. His previous books and his art work, as displayed in galleries and museums, are remarkably fine yet now seem mere black and white and color preparation for this latest sophisticated, extraordinarily beautiful collection of camera sculpted friezes of the nude male introducing the theme of the color red to unite this magnificent gallery on paper. As Jason Salzenstein writes in his excellent Foreword 'In this volume, for the first time, Rosser worked from the impetus of a theme, having been drawn to the color representing energy, love, lust and passion. The most emotionally intense color, only Rosser could harness the conflicted intensity behind this fervid shade and transform it into a visual odyssey as told through the stunning bodies of his men. The result is RED.'

What follows in this elegantly designed, color saturated book is a selection of designed images, each focusing on a male figure and each employing an enormous spectrum of creative uses of the color red. At times the models are draped in red, suspended in red cloth, caressed in red gauze, ribboned in red, or perhaps the red is so subtle that study of the photograph slowly reveals that there is red backlighting, or a spot of red in an isolated tattoo, or the floor or background happens to have a red hue. What makes Rosser's art unique is the dignity with which he poses his models, presenting them more as a part of the message of the image of sensuality rather than the sole focal point. These models become sculptures, without ever losing the fact that they are warmly living, intensely masculine males.

In RED Dylan Rosser enters a new plateau in photography - especially figurative photography - in that his images approach another dimension of fine art: Music. This book is bound to rapidly become a collector's item and will doubtless be included in important museum curated exhibitions. Highly recommended. Grady Harp, October 09

Dylan Rosser does a truly wonderful job in capturing the sensual look into true male form. The photographs are simply beautiful. I first viewed when I purchased the calendar; the young man on the cover of both is Greek sculpting at its finest.
