Weekend officially formed in 2009 around the nucleus of long-time friends Shaun Durkan (vocalist/bassist/guitarist) and Kevin Johnson (guitarist), along with drummer Taylor Valentino. The trio recorded the album Sports throughout 2009 with long-time friend and producer/engineer Monte Vallier. The textured and challenging post-punk squall of Sports made the band an instant sensation, with great ... Read more in Amazon's Weekend Store

Editorial Reviews

2011 EP from the Indie outfit. Prepare for yet another gorgeous, violent sonic assault, because Red packs a serious punch. Opener 'Sweet Sixteen' delivers mesmerizing grind, stately bass and drums underpinned by soaring vocals, and echoed shards of guitar feedback and plucked notes. This leads directly into the noise-pop gem 'Hazel', three minutes and 50 seconds of cascading bass chords, guitar clangor and a melody and chorus most Pop bands would kill for.

5.0 out of 5 stars I really, really like this May 29, 2013

Yes. As I said above, I really, really like this. The three middle songs are my favorites, although, they are all very good. Brilliant music. Brilliant lyrics. I listen to this all the time, pretty much.

4.0 out of 5 stars dreamy noise pop melodies May 24, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
San Francisco band plays dreamy, ambient/noise pop melodies that bury summery sugar hooks
under brittle-shard shoegaze waves of sonic cacophony. A Beach Boys Barbie with a college
degree and very sharp knives to carve the sounds deeply. Reminiscent of Jesus & Mary Chain,
The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Black Tambourines, A Place To Bury Strangers, The Lost
Rivers, Joy Division.
