Biography

I've known Red Fang for a long time — from before their very humble beginnings in 1972, even. I knew them in the early days when they were grody dirt wizards that you never wanted to see with their shirts off. But there we were in Teeksville, Vermont, at 4 a.m. After literally burning the club to the ground following their poorly attended set, I'm pounding on the door of the ... Editorial Reviews

Residing somewhere between Black Flag and Black Sabbath, Red Fang recall a time when rock was more urgent and a little horrifying. Synthesizing a variety of heavy music influences and their own distinct musical identity, the band can easily shift from barn-burning punk to mid-tempo, hyperdistorted bass destruction all while maintaining a cohesive sound. Red Fang create gigantic rock songs that are easy to listen to (not easy listening, mind you) and qualifies the simultaneous usage of both the thinking and the banging head, which are usually mutually exclusive.

It's not quite as good as Murder the Mountains, but it's still really good.

They're really down to earth and fun to hang with.

This album rules- anyone who loves the Sword or something in that vain will be very pleasantly surprised by this up and coming Portland, OR band. The record is well-produced but not too slick to betray a sense of the raw power of the songs. Great riffs, great hooks, solid rock all the way!

Mastodon, Black Sabbath, with a hint of Queens of the Stone Age. This is a great rockin album, kind of a less serious funner version of Mastodon. Sorry to compare to other bands cause they really are there own unique sound.

Rock out with Red Fang. Do it. Or they will puke on your face and your mother's face. They will--seriously.

A week after our daughter was born I had to head out with a friend to do some physical work at his place... I mention this because of how tired I was when I got into my car to drive to my friend's place... I decided to take Red Fang with me as I not only not had the chance to listen to it since receiving it in the mail from Amazon the day before, but forgot what they sounded like when I clicked on 'Listen to Samples' prior to purchasing it...

No need to stop for a coffee! Man, was I blown away with how heavy and how awesome the music was... Shades of Melvins... Shades of Fu Manchu... Red Fang is just the panacea one needs to start a day of physical labour off right...

Chapeau!

I don't get behind many new bands as I'm getting older, but I really like this band and this album. I stumbled across their video for Prehistoric Dog and was hooked. I really like the guitar sound on this album as it's low and heavy but still articulate. You can hear the bass, rhythm, and lead parts really well. They also make good use of melody as even though the music is aggressivly heavy, it still has an almost poppy melodic quality. I enjoy that a lot, I don't really dig bands that are all dissonance 24/7. It sounds like heavy music for people who like to listen to music, if that makes sense. I classify this band as heavy rock, not metal, not stoner rock, but just balls out heavy.

peace

It's not quite as good as Murder the Mountains, but it's still really good. I could listen to Prehistoric Dog all day.

It starts with Prehistoric Dog, and doesn't let off. If you want to see what you're getting into with Red Fang, watch their videos online. They're absolutely great. Met them in their merch tent at Mayhem. They're really down to earth and fun to hang with.
