Biography

RED FANG is the latest effort from long time bros and collaborators Bryan Giles (Last of the Juanitas, Party Time), Aaron Beam (Dark Forces, Lachrymator), David Sullivan (Party Time, facedowninshit, Shiny Beast) and John Sherman (Party Time, Bad Wizard, Trumans Water, All Night). The four have boiled down their disparate sounds to create the ONLY sound: RED FANG. ... Read more in Amazon's Red Fang Store

Editorial Reviews

Residing somewhere between Black Flag and Black Sabbath, Red Fang recall a time when rock was more urgent and a little horrifying. Synthesizing a variety of heavy music influences and their own distinct musical identity, the band can easily shift from barn-burning punk to mid-tempo, hyperdistorted bass destruction all while maintaining a cohesive sound. Red Fang create gigantic rock songs that are easy to listen to (not easy listening, mind you) and qualifies the simultaneous usage of both the thinking and the banging head, which are usually mutually exclusive.

5.0 out of 5 stars new gods of stoner rock March 15, 2009
Format:Audio CD
This album rules- anyone who loves the Sword or something in that vain will be very pleasantly surprised by this up and coming Portland, OR band. The record is well-produced but not too slick to betray a sense of the raw power of the songs. Great riffs, great hooks, solid rock all the way!

5.0 out of 5 stars Feeling the Venom of Red Fang August 22, 2009
Format:Audio CD
A week after our daughter was born I had to head out with a friend to do some physical work at his place... I mention this because of how tired I was when I got into my car to drive to my friend's place... I decided to take Red Fang with me as I not only not had the chance to listen to it since receiving it in the mail from Amazon the day before, but forgot what they sounded like when I clicked on 'Listen to Samples' prior to purchasing it...

No need to stop for a coffee! Man, was I blown away with how heavy and how awesome the music was... Shades of Melvins... Shades of Fu Manchu... Red Fang is just the panacea one needs to start a day of physical labour off right...

Chapeau!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Rockin Album May 4, 2012
Format:MP3 Music|Amazon Verified Purchase
Mastodon, Black Sabbath, with a hint of Queens of the Stone Age. This is a great rockin album, kind of a less serious funner version of Mastodon. Sorry to compare to other bands cause they really are there own unique sound.

4.0 out of 5 stars Band with Promise February 27, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I'm a Kyuss fan from way back, and these guys do provide something in that ballpark. They have an authentic, blues-based heavy sound. If you like thrash you won't want to bother with this. There is a lot of "rhytmical meandering" typical of the Stoner-Rock genre.

I'd prefer they had better production value, although I realize that's part of their presentation. You have to turn it up pretty loud to get the effect I'm looking for, and when you do the bass kind of overwhelms everything else. Of course, that's not such a bad thing.

4 stars, and I'll be checking out their newer release...

4.0 out of 5 stars Red Fang S/T March 17, 2012

Terrific debut album from a really talented band. Very heavy. Straight up Metal without the frills or gimmicks. I'd highly recommend picking this up. Cheers.

5.0 out of 5 stars The heavier side of stoner rock. January 1, 2012
Format:MP3 Music|Amazon Verified Purchase
This was a band i checked out for no other reason than the band name sounded cool, and so i checked out a sampling of their tunes here on Amazon. What i found was a band after my own heart. Very much in the vein of bands like QOTSA, Fu Manchu, and the like, but a bit heavier overall. This is definitely some good driving music that can also be enjoyed while chilling at home, toiling away at work, or pretty much any other setting. I really, really love this album and am glad to have run across it. I have to thank Amazon also...if it hadnt shown up in my recommendations, i probably would never have heard of them, but the fact that it did made it possible to become one of my favorites. So thank you Amazon for that one, and....

Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Caught me by surprise September 24, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I was at Mayhem this summer outside Boise when at the Jager stage came out this rough looking group of dudes that just blew my mind. The next day I ordered the two albums and I was not disappointed after listening to them. This album, as good as it is, is not as good as Murder but it still rocks.
