The Red Heron continues the misadventures of environmental consultant, Robyn Devara. Though mostly immobilized by the casts she earned in previous escapades in Hoot to Kill, Robyn follows her co-workers into the field where they are assessing the damage that an abandoned pesticide plant has wrought on an environmentally sensitive wetland. The poison in the ground (and possibly in the water table) turns out to be the least of the crew's worries as a sniper takes aim at the project. Sabotage turns into murder most bizarre when the dead man is found with a garden variety gnome and a pack of polaroids. Robyn may be the next to have her picture taken. This is the second in the Robyn Devara mystery series.
