5.0 out of 5 stars Please come to Boston in the springtime, June 24, 2011
This review is from: Red Horse (Executioner) (Audio Cassette)
"He who buys land buys war."
( Italian Proverb)

"Those who ruthlessly kill in pursuit of territory rightfully belonging to others must expect a payback - in spades."
(Mac Bolan)

The Hard Warrior is back in town. It has been awhile, but Mack Bolan finds himself back on one of his old killing grounds - Boston. Fans will remember previous visits to this center of American History and they will remember the carnage created as the Big Man removed Mafia scum time and again. Yup, he is back, but this time a different foe, different tactics but the end must be the same...utter destruction to those who do evil.

Someone or something is terrorizing this fine city with a series of fire bombings which bring massive destruction and the deaths of the innocent. This is not the work of cowardly gangbangers, one demented individual or a random act by some madman; no, these acts are being performed by some well organized and very professional group who has no mercy, soul or conscious.

Mack makes a hard probe and discovers much. Per usual he finds himself and judge, jury and of course executioner. Yes, the bad guys; the evildoers have pretty much consigned themselves to hell and the Hard Man himself will send them there, bag and baggage, showing no mercy. They are dead men walking - they just don't know it yet.

This, in my opinion is one of the better of the more modern Bolan books. It harkens back to the early days and we see flashes of Pendleton's spirit in the writing. Will Murray is one of the better of the house writer for this series and this is one of his better works.

"No one knew the name of the game, but Bolan had just rewritten the rules. There was a new piece on the chessboard - a piece the enemy thought checkmated and cleared away.
The enemy was wrong. Dead wrong."

The pace of this book is fast, the plot makes sense, the characters both good and evil are swiftly and well developed, the body count is satisfactory high, the weapons technical data is accurate and a bunch of scum get their just reward - Bolan style.

5.0 out of 5 stars Instant classic for series, October 7, 2000
This review is from: Red Horse (Executioner) (Audio Cassette)
For longtime fans, "Red Horse" brings back some of the classic Don Pendleton feel to the series, while managing to clearly depict a new kind of street warfare -- one that requires Bolan's distinctive talent to touch. The audio version of this book only serves to heighten and highlight the tension, the dramatic battles, the car chases, and the sense of justice being served, Executioner style. I read the print version first and considered it a classic for the series, one that I'd recommend to someone who was interested in getting into the series, and the audio version does an excellent job of dramatizing an already great story.
