Editorial Reviews

One of the wildest of the rockabilly wild men, multi-instrumentalist & songwriter Billy Lee Riley was one of Sun Records' most significant signings. This 2004 compilation gives 26 reasons why. His backing band, The Little Green Men, comprised the cream of Sun's session men, including Jerry Lee Lewis on piano. Digipak includes 12-page booklet with detailed biographical track notes. Snapper.

4.0 out of 5 stars My gal is red hot, ..., June 17, 2004

This review is from: Red Hot (Audio CD)
One of the wildest rockabilly performers! He started at Sun and contributed as a sideman to many a classic Sun session. He played harmonica, guitar, bass and drums. His band the Little Green Men (Roland Janes and James Van Eaton) became Sun house band. "Red Hot", "Flyin' Saucers Rock & Roll" are outstanding rockabilly numbers and other songs are outstanding too.

I'm a musician learning to play high energy rockabilly and Billy Lee certainly has something in his music that makes you wanna move. He has a great voice and the recordings are done well. His best song is "Got your Water boilin' baby", give it a listen!
