Read together as a couple, especially if you're not sure how to communicate with each other in this very sensitive, intimate area of your marriage. This book is a great way to get those lines of communication open and help you to make your love life better than it already is. 1.0 out of 5 stars Red Hot? .... yeah right!
This book was recommended to me along with Dr. Kevin Lehman's books; Sex Begins In the Kitchen and Sheet Music. I found Dr. Lehman's books to be really useful, insightful, and packed with really good ideas for normal married couples, and not overly preachy on the religious front. That being said... this book by Bill and Pam Farrel had nothing of that. Where Dr. Lehman...

Read together as a couple, especially if you're not sure how to communicate with each other in this very sensitive, intimate area of your marriage. This book is a great way to get those lines of communication open and help you to make your love life better than it already is. Sex within the context of marriage, the way God planned it, is truly the best and most wonderful gift. This book encourages making time for sex, planning it, even scheduling it. There's nothing wrong with that. It's a great book, very open, and encouraging!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Passionate About Staying Together, July 4, 2006
This review is from: Red-Hot Monogamy: Making Your Marriage Sizzle (Paperback)
This is a playful book, a little more relaxed than another one I read which suggested that wives greet their husbands at the door wearing...plastic wrap? This book has helpful advice that seems more approachable for most couples. The authors write with humor and this book would make a nice wedding gift if you know the couple reasonably well.

My husband and I have been married for many years but learned A LOT from this book! I wish we'd had it when we were newlyweds. (It would make a great wedding shower gift)

Bill and Pam Farrel know what they're talking about and share their knowledge with humor and encouragement. Red Hot Monogamy showed us how to relax, reconnect, and rediscover our romance!

4.0 out of 5 stars Spiritual Sexuality, November 25, 2007
This review is from: Red-Hot Monogamy: Making Your Marriage Sizzle (Paperback)
Bill and Pam Farrel believe that the most satisfying sex occurs in a monogamous, committed marriage. "Red Hot Monogamy" is written with Christian couples in mind. Sexuality and spirituality are intertwined in a unique way. This book is not just about sex it is more about developing a strong relationship that fosters intimacy. A lot of the ideas seem natural for newlyweds so reading this as a refresher course is a good option. There are over 200 creative romantic ideas and special sections for "Hands-on Homework." I liked the ideas about redecorating the bedroom to fit your fantasy location. Many of the ideas will also work for "romance on a budget." Making up code words, leaving secret notes and surprising your partner with romantic outings will make your love life hotter than before. I can recommend this book to Christian couples who are also interested in knowing what the Bible has to say about sexuality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Biblical, Sensitive, and Fun!, October 31, 2009

This review is from: Red-Hot Monogamy: Making Your Marriage Sizzle (Paperback)
I'm all about making wise, godly choices, and Bill and Pam Farrel have made a wise, godly choice with this book. In a world that promotes sinful perspectives on sex, they purposefully explore the power of sexuality in marriage. Their purpose is evident from the beginning of the book: "We must make a choice regarding sexual expression. We will either utilize it as a deviant, destructive power or we will harness its potential to keep love alive and vibrant in our marriage relationships." [The key word there is "marriage."] This book is many things: (1) a spiritual guide to sexuality in marriage; (2) a powerful impetus to sexual intimacy in marriage; and (3) an "idea book" with creative suggestions for "bringing the honeymoon home" and helping it stay. The Farrels live what they teach. In fact, the title came from one of their sons, who recognized and appreciated his parents' vital relationship. I'm thankful these relationship specialists weren't afraid to tackle this sensitive topic.

1.0 out of 5 stars Red Hot? .... yeah right!, September 1, 2010

Where Dr. Lehman doesn't feel the need to beat you over the head with his religious point of veiw, Bill and Pam Farrel do nothing but that in this book. It was less about "making your marriage sizzle" and more about how Christianity is the best thing ever and if you don't think so too your marriage is doomed. Don't get me wrong, I am a Christian by faith as well, but I don't think a book about trying to spice things up in your marriage should go on and on about how Christianity is better than everything "Blah Blah Blah." It should just skim the faith and belief stuff and concentrate more on the subject matter, which is supposed to be bettering your marriage. Also, once you actually read the book the title is just laughable. This book is anything but "Red Hot." The advice for spicing up your marriage and love life is so tame and outdated its hilarious. Mr. and Mrs. Farrel actually say in one part of the book, to "spice things up" by reading classic romances like Jane Eyre and Romeo and Juliet. WHAT??? Since when is stogy old literature sexy or spicy? Yeah... nothing says sexy like books about a couple that kills themselves and a man who tries to marry a woman while he's secretly had his first insane wife locked up in a secret room of his house...yeah...that's hot....
The advice in this book is so tame I nearly expected them to tell readers to replace foreplay with holding hands on the porch and talking about Knitting Magazines. So in short; if you want a Christian book about spicing up your married life with GOOD advise for ACTUAL married couples get Dr. Lehman's books because this one is nothing but a super tame and unhelpful waste of time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great ideas for getting in the mood!, October 30, 2009
This review is from: Red-Hot Monogamy: Making Your Marriage Sizzle (Paperback)
Whenever I read a book about improving intimacy in marriage, my husband is a happy camper. As you've probably noticed, men and women are wired differently. This wonderful book by the Farrels has given me good ideas for improving our love life. Tons of practical ideas for date nights and putting the romance back into your relationship. It's easy to become very stable and even stale in your relationship with your mate. This book helps put the sizzle and creativity back into the home if you take some of the ideas to heart.

At times we found ourselves rolling our eyes, especially because they recommend so many getaways and so few of us have the means to actually do this. It really did help us overall! We read it together, which I think is key. Praying together works wonders, too!
