Great Movie, But Where is the DVD?,
This review is from: Red Kiss [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a great movie. I have not seen the film since 1985 when it first came out, but I have often thought about it. I was very young when I saw it and it made me think about the period in France after WWII in which they became enamoured with Stalin (hence the title Red Kiss). I recall some of the conflcits integral to the storyline dealt with a young French women's wrestling of the "rosy" ideals of Stalinism, coming to terms with the evidence of his attrocities.
It's crazy that there is no DVD out yet after all this time. If this came out on DVD, I'd buy a copy for each of my friends for Xmas. It won the prize at the Berlin film festival for crying out loud. I know its out on VHS and the Amazon sells it, but I don't really use VHS anymore.

A Sweet Valentine for Lovers Everywhere,
By Kerra "Very Selective" (Irvine, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Red Kiss [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is not just another movie from a teen romance genre. It is a smart and realistic portrayal of a young woman falling in love for the first time. Nadia (Charlotte Valandrey) feels passionate about everything: Stalin, Apollinaire, Scarlett O'Hara and most of all for Stephane (Lambert Wilson). Her youth gives her the confidence for her passions, yet her naivete makes her feel lonely and misunderstood at times. Stephane gives her the acceptance she yearns for at home and at the pro-Communist groups.
The onscreen chemistry of Charlotte Valandrey and Lambert Wilson, combined with first rate acting makes this movie one of the best romance movies EVER. It is by far the most under-rated movie I have ever come across. I can't believe there's no DVD available! Now, that's a travesty!

LOVE this film!,

I was very fortunate to have bought this movie, it's so excellent. It has a sweet love story but what keeps it together is the main character Nadia, who is wise beyond her years. It's no wonder that Stephan falls for her. I especially love the scene wher Nadia confesses to stephan what she most likes:'poets, movies, and YOU'. And who wouldn't, I mean Lambert Wilson, who plays Stephan, is SOOOOO iresistible. He's a great actor and plays Stephan in fine manner.

Best Romantic Movie Ever,
By
This review is from: Red Kiss [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The is the best romantic movie of all time (IMHO). Why, oh why, is it out of print??? This is an award winning film, and judging from the other reviews, has a loyal following. What is the story behind its discontinuance? Does anybody out there know? I never write reviews for Amazon, but the fact that this is only available in VHS (who has access to that anymore?) prompted me to get on here and ralley for a DVD release. If it was re-released on DVD, I'd buy multiple copies and give them out as Valentine's Day presents.

It does exist in Laserdisc form!,
This review is from: Red Kiss [VHS] (VHS Tape)
For the lovers of this wonderful film, you must buy a Laserdisc player to be able to enjoy this movie in a higher quality format. It will be worth the work finding a copy. I own a copy , was very lucky and diligent. The players and discs are very reasonably priced now, too!! Good Luck!!

I love it. This film is one off my favorite foreign films. The actor who plays Stephane is so suave and HOTT!The story is so real and special. It is so sweet hoe the love that Stephane feels for Nadia transends age. The first time I saw it I did not catch the innuendos, but the second time I saw it I fell in love with it. However, the ending could have been better. I so wanted Nadia to go to Indoncia with Stephane!
