Not for everyone, February 22, 2010
This review is from: Red (DVD)
This movie is without a doubt of the wall. Totally wacked and wierd, to be more specific. I first saw this ten years ago when I rented it and laughed my ass off. I recently bought it on Amazon and laughed myself into a near heart attack almost a decade later.
If you get a kick out of practical jokes or enjoy tormenting people for your own gratification, then RED should most likely be right up your alley.

"The video equivalent of Onion Gum!", December 2, 2005
This review is from: Red (DVD)
Long before Bart Simpson started harassing Moe the Bartender, a phone prankster in New Jersey was badgering the owner of the Tube Bar and making a tape of every word that was said. The tapes were passed from person to person, copied and re-copied and eventually made it into the hands of Chris Gore, editor of Film Threat. This now legendary comedy stars tough guy Lawrence Tierney (from Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs) as Red, the beleaguered booze jockey at the Tube Bar. Tortured beyond human endurance by such telephonic classics as "Is Stu there? Stu Pip?" and "Is Al there? Last name Koholic?" Red quickly falls prey to fantasies involving shotguns, baseball bats and severe bodily injury. This cult classic comes to DVD with a load of extra features sure to make this disc a party favorite.
The 300+ minutes of Special Features include:
* Three Commentaries
* "Unhappy Hour: The Shooting of Red" Behind-the-Scenes Doc
* The Cult of Red
* Tribute to Lawrence Tierney
* Bonus short "Ouch!"
* Closed captioned in 10 languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Russian, Portugese, Dutch, Chinese and Japanese.
* Trailers and loads more!
"Red" is one of the those films you have to see at least once in your lifetime. A cult classic that deserves your attention.

Chris Gore's Original Underrated Classic!, July 8, 2006
This review is from: Red (DVD)
The Bum Bar Bastards (Jim Davidson & John Elmo) started prank calling the owner of the Tube Bar, Louis "Red" Deutsch back in 1975. The calls were passed around as a bootleg tape and became famous purely by accident. Today they are legendary and known as the originators of prank phone calls and are unmatched by any other and are pure classic.
Chris Gore got a copy of the tape (before the BBBs came forward) and decided it would make a great short film. It's nice to see the video along w/ the calls (which is unique and rare) and anyone would hold heartedly agree that Legendary Actor "Lawrence Tierney" plays the perfect Red.
This film is rare and hard to find, but has recently been remastered in 16.9 WideScreen and re-released on the Tube Bar 35th Anniversary
Tube Bar Prank Calls 35th Anniversary Complete Collection [DVD+CD] Dolby/DTS. If you can find this classic I reccomend buying it.
