Artie Cohen is such a compelling character, conflicted and flawed though he is. Reggie Nadelson has created a story of depth and complexity, the more I read the slower I read; unwilling to miss any of the observations or locations on the page. The scenes set in Russia were especially powerful. Often times I find in mystery books, the backgrounds and supporting cast are only two-dimensional storyboards upon which the protagonist/hero walks taller than everyone around; however, not here. The Artie Cohen character meshes with his environment and his relationships so authentically that the story feels more like a memoir than fiction.

I'm looking forward to the next book in the series-
