I got this toy for my grandson who lives with us for Christmas last year (08). I had bought microphones for him before which were flimsy and didn't last long. I had decided to start buying better quality toys though it meant I would be buying fewer. Andrew was delighted with the toy in every way, loves the sounds with it. And so do his friends who visit. At the time I bought it, there had been no reviews for it which I find so useful. But I took a chance. As far as durability, it has done well considering how he drags it around. He sometimes complains (though not lately) that he couldn't get it to work. I always found the problem to be the cord was not plugged into the base well (becuase he pulls on it walking around) or he did not have the switch on. I could always get it to work. The only other problem I had was that the stand that holds the microphone would lift out of the base easily. This I remedied by putting some tape around the stand and it holds well and the tape does not show. I would recommend this toy.

Bought this mic stand for Christmas, for my daughter who had just turned 6. She loves playing with this toy, and putting on shows for us. However the quality is only so-so. After only a short while, the upright portion of the mic stand quickly became "stripped" and unable to tighten to keep it up, so it slides to the lowest height. Also, it became a bit glitchy where sometimes no sound came from it at all. After checking connections and battery life I could find no explanation, but then it would work perfectly the next day. These aren't huge issues, but could easily upset a young child. Other than those 2 quality issues, it is a great toy for your little performer.

My four year old daughter received this for Christmas and is having a blast putting on shows for us. She especially likes the applause button...wait for it....!! She drags it up and down the stairs and it still works. The volume is loud enough for her, but not too loud. It's lots of fun.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my 3 year old great neice. She loves it. Of course, she would love it even if it didn't work since she just loves to sing. Before getting this, she sang with hairbrushes or whatever else would suffice as a pretend microphone. No problem as of yet.

My 3 year old loved this micr.. Unfortunately, the mic stopped working after 4 months. She still pulls it out to play with but is always trying to make mic. work. Too bad, because we would have rated it 5 stars.

Got this for my great grandson's 3rd birthday. It is a major league HIT!! Can't comment on the quality of the sound because it doesn't seem to matter. He thinks he's a rock star and has all the moves. The "fun" value is at the top of the scale.

Our granddaughter loves to strum a guitar and belt out songs. The microphone adds to the fun, and for her, the reality of her performances. She's had the microphone for a month, and so far it has held up well. The quality of the sound isn't great, but just fine for her.

I purchased this gift for a 5 year old cousin who definitely has his own style. From the moment he opened the gift wrapping on the box he pretty much wanted to play with the microphone right away. The microphone was pretty easy to put together, only thing is I recommend giving the gift along with all 4 C batteries it requires for use. I didn't realize that was the battery size needed as such ended up having to go to the store in order to purchase said batteries so that our little cousin could enjoy his toy right away. This microphone does everything I intended including allowing the 5 year-old to create his own beat, oh and the applause function is awesome for all children who as we know need immediate gratification. I'd definitely recommend this toy for any musically inclined child.

I read the poor reviews on this product before purchasing it last year for Christmas for my two sons. We bought 2 of these and both of them arrived not fully working. One of the microphones never worked but it was too much hassle for us to send it back -- the other one was faulty but was still useable until it stopped working within a few weeks. I don't recommend this product at all --

Bought this as a birthday gift for my 3 year old grandaughter. Her mother said she wanted a microphone. I looked online and found this one. What a hit @ her party!!! She opened this last, good thing, all the kids wanted to play with this!! Very easy to use, the sound is good for a child and they love that the can hold the mick in their hands. This has added sound and all they have to do is hit the hand held switch or foot pedel. It seems at times the sound stops, all you have to do is hit the pedel on the base and the sound starts again.
This is a great toy for toddlers who love to be the center of attention, and so much fun for mothers, dads, and grandparents to watch. Would recemmond this highly as a gift and the price is great.
