Works for a Little While and Then Doesn't,

When I first got this dance pad I thought it was wonderful. I put it on a concerte floor and it absorbed all shock and made DDR a blast. Then, after just a couple months, it began to mess up. At first one or two buttons would occasionally not respond. But very quickly two of the buttons would rarely work when you hit them. However they would fire off when you stood in the middle of the pad changing the song and/or difficulty on you. Sometimes the buttons would fire when you weren't even standing on the pad! When I contacted customer support they said "Unfortunately we do not repair our products. Our warranty period is 60 days." They refused to even try and figure out what the problem was. But they did offer to give a 20% discount on another. Right, I am going to give them more of my money for another defective pad. They also told me "There is not much to trouble shoot. The dance pad is plug and play. There is no configuration or repairs for the soft pad. When plugged in it should work. If it does not you may have to replace the pad." In other words they told me I was out of luck. So $100 down the drain. If I am going to buy a pad that I have to keep replacing, I will get the $20 one. DON'T BUY THIS PAD, buy one that will keep working properly.

Someone bought me TWO ignitions for my birthday last April. I happily used one until August...and then the back step stopped working. When I unzipped the unit and looked inside, I discovered the pad had RIPPED underneath! I wrote the company and got the SAME exact response as the other reviewer--only 60 day guarantee, but 20% discount if I wanted another one. So I said to "no thanks. Even only 80 bux for only 5 months of use just isn't worth it." So, I've been using my second pad since August...here it is December, FIVE months later, and the top step stopped working. Unzipped the pad, looked inside, and the pad is ripped.I'm going back to the Konami pads that came with my DDR games and never looking back. That was 200 dollars down the drain for the person kind enough to gift them to me...

My husband and I own the Redoctane 2.0 pad and we love it. It has preformed well after a 1 1/2 years of heavy use and when we ordered our second DDR mat from Redoctane we were given the 3.0 pad. At first glance we thought it looked great. Newer is always better right? WRONG! This is the WORST dance pad I have purchased and I have bought many. Our mat, from the first day we plugged it in, was malfunctioning. If you stood in the center square the game would at lightning speed cycle through the DDR menu. No, it was not the game's fault it was the pad. So we thought maybe that it would stop after we broke in the pad. To our dismay, the pad got worse. The squares that are supposed to be under the sensors to help you feel where you are on the pad shifted. These thick squares are now overlapping each other and make it virtually impossible to enjoy our DDR game. This pad's failure took only 8 days since delivery. As previously reported by other users, I too found that Redoctane is not nice about returns. They charge a 15% restocking fee and make you pay the shipping and handling for sending the unit both ways. I am so disgusted with Redoctane and their poor business practices that I will never buy a Redoctane product again!

This pad worked fine for a couple weeks, then the small raised pads under the arrows (inside the top layer of the mat) started slipping. They have some kind of glue that's supposed to keep them in place; it didn't work for long. They gradually migrated towards the center, even overlapping in places. When it got impossible to use as a dance mat I spent this evening cutting open the back of that top layer so I could reach inside and rearrange the pads.I intend to duck tape it back up now that I'm done, but I had to cut through three layers to rearrange the pads, and the arrangement is such that it's going to be very difficult to tape it up without getting tape on the middle layer of foam, which would only make it rip. And of course after all this it will probably only last another two weeks. (I would have returned it it instead but like an idiot I threw the box away. We have two of the older Ignition2 pad at work that have been under heavy use for months with no problems, so I didn't anticipate any with this, either. I was wrong.)

Buy a 2-year replacement plan from bestbuy for 12.99. Perfect response all the time. As soon as it stops being perfect, just go get another one for free.

We're about to return our third RedOctane Ignition 3.0 to Best Buy. I'm glad that I didn't order this unit directly from RedOctane. The 3.0 version either malfunctions or its button pads (which raise the arrows slightly) start slipping to the center of the pad. RedOctane has really messed-up on the 3.0. If you must buy it, then get it at a retailer that has a solid return policy and test the unit extensively. If it shows any flaws within the return period, take it back immediately.

For most people, this pad breaks after a week or two.For me, it was broken after less than one day. For 1/100 people, it works like a charm and is the best pad they've ever owned. So don't believe anything you hear about "this pad is amazing!", unless you like playing the lottery, which is what buying this pad is.

Wow! I can have the arcade at my house! That's what I was thinking when I bought this dance pad. It was my first. So I played on it for about 3 weeks. The bottom arrow stopped responding.. I tried everything. I exchanged it for the same model hoping it wouldn't maulfunction again. After 2 weeks this one stopped working, too! Now, I tried exchanging this one for a different version of the pad. No luck. GameStop did not allow me to exchange it because, "We do not accept any game that has touched 'human sweat'" and "The item contains sweat of a human person so we cannot exchange it" words of the manager. BOTTOM LINE: DON'T BUY THIS HORRIBLE DANCE PAD! $100 was what I paid. They saw that it malfunctions so they dropped it to about $65.

I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of a red octane pad (3.0, the 2.0 is no longer being sold, what a pity) for a DDR party I was hosting at my college. My friends raved about it and he's had his for over two years, but working like new. Sadly, when I tested these pads on standard and heavy songs, the back button started malfunctioning, responding to any slight pressure on the pad, no matter where it was pressed. It sometimes wouldn't register and then fire off automatically. The pad is virtually useless now, try to find a different pad, the 2.0 pad was far superior but the 3.0's problem is the raised buttons, when those get bent in any fashion, the sensors get screwy.

I've own 2 RedOctane 3.0 dance pads for a little over half a year. They were great while they lasted but recently some buttons started to get stuck. At first only 1 pad would malfunction and the down arrow would sometimes not respond while other times automatically repeat itself. A week later, the 2nd pad started to have the same problem, but with the right arrow.I'm a little pissed considering I paid almost $100 for each of these pads, when I could've gotten a generic foam pad for a quarter of the price. Even if those pads aren't as reliable, I could have 4 for each RedOctane pad and I'm pretty sure those would last at least 1.5 months each. All in all, I'm rather dissatisfied with the product. I've heard horror stories of people trying to contact support, plus they only have a 60 day warranty limit. |
