Odd Name. Great Music.,
By Melissa (Atlanta, GA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Red Record (Audio CD)
Anybody knows that a music review is about what? Music, right? Well I think it would be appropriate to introduce the boys who make up Loudermilk. There's Issac Carpenter, who bangs away on the drums, Davey Ingersoll, who lends his awesome vocal ability, Shane Middleton, who keeps the crowd moving on the bass, and Mark Watroos, the long haired guitar player. They would seem like the average band, wouldn't they? But their music sets them apart, and far above, many bands out there. Most people have never even heard of Loudermilk, but that's about to change. With their recent release, The Red Record, the guys of Loudermilk are off, and going, to take the nation by storm, even if they don't mean to. The Red Record is full of hits that make you want to get up, dance, and/or just shout the lyrics at the top of your lungs. Their first release, "Estrogen Oxygen Aches In The Teeth Again", may have a weird title but the song itself is something different, something new, something that the masses of America need to hear. It's a perfect sample of the great music that Loudermilk has to offer. Likewise, "California", which has an awesome drum beat at the beginning, has a certain something that cannot be denied. Ingersoll's voice carries you all the way to the chorus, where there's an explosion of sound that just blows you away. If you're tired of mainstream rock that seems to get worse and worse with every "band" that comes out, check out Loudermilk. They're the breath of fresh air that you've been searching for.

No really, rock is back.,
By "spazmonic" (San Diego, CA) - See all my reviews

Rock really is back, but it sure wasn't the Vines who brought it on their shoulders. From the very first explosion of guitar and drums in the first song, Estrogen Oxygen Aches in the Teeth Again to the last minute of Attached at the Mouth, Loudermilk delivers an insane adrenaline rush. This music is wild. This music is crazy...Lead singer Davey's voice just sends chills down your spine when you hear his evil screams and well-placed voice vibratos. Place that over a crunchy Les Paul guitar line, bass that punches you in the face and drum beats that flow like a river but spasm like the crazy kid that drummer Isaac is. Every member of this band is extremely talented, and it shows on every single song. While obviously drawing influences from older bands such as the Black Crowes and AC/DC, Loudermilk also pumps some modern sound effects through your veigns... If you're anyone who's ever appreciated good rock n' roll, this is for you.

the best unknown band ever,
By
This review is from: The Red Record (Audio CD)
i picked this cd up in november of 2002 at the mall of america in minneapolis, and since then, rarely has anything i've listened to impressed me as much.
the first track, estrogen oxygen aches in the teeth again, frickin' kicked my ass. it just explodes from the speakers with such force that i couldn't help but love it. the rest of the cd varies from semi-pop, to a piano ballad entitled "97 ways to kill a superhero", to the hypnotic beat of one of the best songs i have ever heard, "the twisting". the last song on the cd is one of the most beautiful things i have ever heard. i don't see how these guys aren't super famous. they are one of the most talented bands around and totally deserve everything they get. but, the other thing i really like about them is the fact that they aren't [...]. i hate bands that just sell out for money. but this band truly puts all their feelings and effort into their music to create deep and heartfelt musical experience. so if you want something fresh, pick this cd up. you can find it for pretty much nothing nowadays, but good luck finding their first cd, "man with gun kills three", i got that off the internet for more money than i would like to talk about. but it was worth it, as is this masterpiece. and if you are already a big fan and want more, they are no longer called Loudermilk. after a label scuffle, they changed their name to Gosling, and have released a self-title e.p., and it is glorious.

whoa! okay, i bought this cd pretty much because i was bored one day and saw it at the store. i hadn't heard any of the music and was just hopeing to like a few of the songs. i put it on and fell in love. loudermilk is my new favorite band!! they sound like nothing i have heard in a long time! rock with punk with so much variety in the songs. they start off with the powerful 'estrogen oxygen aches in the teeth again' and you heard the lead singers voice. hes amazing! he sounds so much different than anything popular out there today. then it moves into some more ballad type songs like 'anthema'. this cd is one of the best i have heard in the past few years. i recommend it to anyone who likes rock/punk sort of stuff. competely amazing.

LOUDERMILK IS SMASHING!!!!,
By dan the man (San Antonio, Tx. USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Red Record (Audio CD)
THE RED RECORD by LOUDERMILK has a very familiar sound to it. After listening 2 or 3 songs into it, it was obvious that these guys are strongly influenced by SMASHING PUMKINS! Infact I could hear it in every song, especially tracks 3,4,5,7,12,13,and 14. I heard thier 1st single, track 1."estrogyn, oxygen aches in the teeth again" about 6 months ago, and thought it rocked! I expected the entire record to rock as much, but there are some mellow tunes flowing through this record. This is not a bad thing, because the songs are very nice sounding. As for the reviewers who said they could hear a strong influence from AC/DC, and Guns & Roses, I have no idea what they were listening to?????????????? I heard nothing of the sort!!!! Lets put it this way, if you like SMASHING PUMKINS, you will like LOUDERMILK. It's as simple as that! I for one love them so I naturally liked LOUDERMILK'S THE RED RECORD, and would recomend it to anyone who likes SMASHING PUMKINS!

Loudermilk: An Amazing Hidden Treasure!!,
By
This review is from: The Red Record (Audio CD)
Loudermilk started out as a local band here in my home town of Richland, Washington. They've grown up and matured as a band, and now 7 years later they have released their first complete studio CD under record contract to the world! These guys are amazing! They've got a hard rock edge to them similar to bands like Smashing Pumpkins or The Vines with some vibes of more classic bands such as Guns N Roses. Davey's powerful vocals mixed with Mark's edgy guitar work, Shane's backing bass lines, and Isaac's energetic and driving drum work make this album a true work of Rock art. If you don't like this album at first, listen to it again. If you still arn't sure about it, give it another try. Because there isn't any reason why you shouldn't like them. They truely do rock and really know how to make some awesome music. Well worth the 5 Stars. Personal favorite tracks: Julliet, Juin, Mai, Kreates a Presence to Blush, and California

Are you ready to ROCK,
By Jill (Bellingham,WA USA) - See all my reviews

Loudermilk's new album, will have you tappin' your toes and possibly bang'n your head. You can definitly hear the bands rock influences. In a time where so much music is slow and EMOtional it's nice to listen to something, that doesn't depress you. The best part of the album would have to be the musical creativity, these boys are super talented. If you miss bands like AC/DC and G 'N R, but are into Smashing Pumpkins, The Strokes, and what not, then i recommend this album.

A killer band from my hometown...,
By Travis (West Richland, WA) - See all my reviews

From hearing so many from the prep crowds saying this band kicks a** from around town, I thought surely this wasn't going to be real rock, for it had already been snorted up by "them." Curious, I read a few articles on the band, and heard some songs gtom the band's rare release, Man With Gun Kills Three (only available in Tri Cities, WA), and then thought it was pretty good. Now, I check out this record, and I have already played it about 10 times all the way through, yet probably will not be growing tired of it anytime soon. A great rock record for metalheads and punks alike.

maybe rock isn't dead after all,
By "jwanrus" (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews

Loudermilk is a stellar rock act that has an intensity and versatility that you dont usually see in bands these days. the Red Record is a collection of songs that starts with the manic guitar driven extravaganza of Estrogen Oxygen and finishes with the soulful ballad Attached at the Mouth. listening to the rest of the album, you'll find nearly every song has something new to offer, from the heavy pulsating beat of The Twisting, to the grit pop of Rock 'N' Roll and the Teenage Despairation, to the riff driven Elekt, to the ethereal Anthema. The vast array of sonic textures on the record makes appearant the amount of time and energy loudermilk poured into this recording, and the emotional envestment they have in their music comes through eloquently. You will know what they were feeling when they wrote each song. This bands impeccable songwriting skills combined with excelent production makes for an album that I know I will be able to listen to and enjoy decades from now.
