Bump in the road
on August 23, 2012
This album was a disappointment for me. Sure, Blake's voice sounds about as good as it usually does and the musicianship was, of course, professional grade -- but otherwise, this gave me the impression of a "going through the motions" album release. Other than the title track, there was not another song that made me care. You've perhaps heard the expression, "It's the singer, not the song." Well, my feeling is that even George Jones would have trouble making this group of tunes sound like anything special. / To somewhat explain my POV, I am a long time country music fan, but not a Blake Shelton fan, per se. If you are an avid fan of Blake, then perhaps this album will be more than satisfying.
