About the Artist
Arigon Starr (Kickapoo, Creek) is a Native American Music Award–winner for her CDs "Meet the Diva" and "Wind-Up." She received rave reviews last spring as The Nurse in Native Voices at the Autry's "Kino & Teresa" and has won two Best Actress Awards from First Americans in the Arts Awards for her lead roles in Native Voices at the Autry’s Equity productions of "The Buz’Gem Blues" and "Please Do Not Touch the Indians." In the past year she launched her television acting career with performances in "Barbershop" and "General Hospital" and received honors from the Los Angeles Women’s Theater Project (the Maverick Award) and from Wordcraft Circle of Native Writers and Storytellers (Storyteller of the Year). "The Red Road" marks her debut as a playwright and solo performer and inspired twelve new songs that were recorded early this year in Los Angeles and Nashville with a who's who "A" list of musical talent.

I met Arigon Starr about five years ago in Portland, Oregon at an intimate performance at my friend's coffee shop. Arigon performed acoustic sets of "Meet the Diva." I was a fan from the start. Arigon addresses what it means to be Indian with humor and warmth. Arigon Starr is a gifted performer and song writer.
"The Red Road" is a continuation of Arigon's razor sharp wit. Her genre includes country, cryin' in your beeer, to a fabulous edgy punk tune called, " Indian Eyes." I would highly recommend "The Red Road" for the indigenous and non-indigenous. I am really proud of the success that Arigon has acheived since I first met her five years ago.
