5.0 out of 5 stars About "The Red Room" and D.J. Deweese, December 31, 2005
(From www.DJDeweese.com)
DJ Deweese and the Mercenary Asylum create a contemporary acoustic rock vibe that is simultaneously intimate and dynamic. The combination of carefully crafted song writing, ringing guitars, intricate percussion, and surprise guest musicians creates a unique sum always greater than the individual parts. With a vocal quality described as "a mix of Eddie Vedder and James Taylor," lead vocalist and band founder Daniel Jason Deweese deliver an inviting intensity that is drawing attention to the St. Louis based singer/song writer. The self-produced album "The Red Room" includes ten original songs that display a diversity of style and instrumentation resulting from the mix of musicians and loops that make up the aptly named "Mercenary Asylum." With various percussion, violins, bass, keyboards, and even a sarod, the aural texture of each track is surprisingly unique. Visit www.djdeweese.com to hear samples of the music and find our more about the band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Of course I think this album is great!, December 28, 2005
By Mary Mary (Missouri) - See all my reviews
I've known DJ for many years and am glad to see his new album available. It has a nice variety of performances that showcase his unique vocals, with some great studio mixes that fill out his sound in a way that hasn't been captured on previous albums. It's hard to pick a favorite song, but Truth Flag and Better Men are surely in the running. Definitely worth checking out his main webpage at www.djdeweese.com for some free sample clips off the album.
