More About the Author

I started writing as a kid, and it became my obsession when I reached college. I am partial to the fantasy genre, but what I really love writing is stories that people find humorous.

The best part about being an author, in my opinion, is connecting with readers. My passion can't be realized without you, and I genuinely want to know you and brighten your day. Check out my blog for the various ways you can interact with and contact me!

I read this story to the end so it was not bad (happily I was not annoyed by any major spelling/grammar errors that I recall.) Having said that, if I had other books lined up to read I would have quit halfway through. If this book was a movie I would give it a G rating both for story sophistication level and how graphic the romance was. Think old school regency romance level or very young adult. Just a hand hold and a kiss and they live happily ever after. This is not a bad thing but for some reason I was expecting it to be a lot more adult and was, therefore, underwhelmed by it. Others who enjoy a simple and sweet romance between human and elf may like it.

Ok, so that was just plain sweet...exactly what I was looking for. Even before any of the romance emerged Tari and Arion's interactions were a joy to behold. They both had a certain dry wit about them that I appreciated. I did wonder that Tari could remain quite sooooo oblivious for quite soooo long and how exactly she managed to keep her secret from Arion. But it was still fun.

The two kings had a lot of personality for side characters. The Seer, the soldiers, and the family were engaging and both Tari and Arion came out with some really funny one liners. There was the occasional cultural mishap, ok the whole latter half of the romance sort of hinged on one, but it still made me smile. Then there was Arion's additional confession. That was worth reading the book for all on its own.

The mystery, though secondary to the plot really, was interesting. As was the true role of the Evening Stars. Though I could take issue with the inference that women, even highly trained and skilled women don't have the heart for real battle, but I think I'll let it pass. You do see the end coming from a mile away but that only heightens the anticipation. You know that HEA is on the horizon and you just can't wait.

It's also worth mentioning that this is a standalone book. These feel like they're getting rarer these days, so I'm thrilled to come across one. I have another of Ms. Shea's book on my TBR and I'll be keeping my eye open for more. She's definitely made it on my radar.

I really have enjoyed KM Shea's other books, so I was excited to read this book as it sounded like a fantastic story line. Unfortunately, the writing was amateurish,so I imagine it was an early effort. Also, the plot was overly simplistic and there was no romantic or adventurous tension. I have to say that the main character was at times immature, which surprised me given her training and position. The book isn't bad, but it was a let down when I came from her latest published work.

So I absolutely adored this book till the end. The author did a fantastic job of building all of these wonderful characters and then the end doesn't really live up to them. I kept waiting for the climax of the book enjoying the journey and then all of a sudden the book is over. Very anti-climatic. I would still recommend this book to anyone who wants a fun short read.

Book is dry and at times boring. The grammar threw me off at times and was distracting. There was no build up for plot and was hard to finish the story. I do not recommend this book.

I really prefer Tolkin's idea of an "elf" instead of the "Santa's elf" or "Fairie elf" ideas which seems to be more popular. So I was really happy to find this story featuring human and (Tolkin-like) elf interactions! In some ways the basic romance plot seemed really familiar but the side characters set the story apart on it's own (especially Tari's teacher, lol he is fantastic!). I'm also glad it had some action and political intrigue mixed in as I'm not really much of a romance reader. Would definitely recommend to others!

Well, I did read it all the way through, and it's not annoying or anything. But it's kind of a scam. The girl turns out not to be just a member of a dance troupe. But the enemy turns out to be kind of trivial. And the proposed match will further dilute the elves' magic, so why all the excitement?

In parts, the writing style of this book was fresh and engaging. But the grammar, spelling and style mistakes were distracting and really should have been corrected.
