Compared to a modern top-end black tea, Red Rose has a pretty strong bitter note that somewhat hides the round flavor on top. This tea not only can stand up to milk or cream, I'd say it demands it, plus sugar. Given all that, a milked and sugared cup of this, after a good 5 minute steep, has a very nice full tea flavor (afternoon style) that keeps getting more luscious as it cools. Just over luke-warm, there is a really wide rich old-leaf taste as the milk hauls off the tannins. The aftertaste is milky. This is not a weak bag, like Tetley. Excellent for cookie-dipping and iced-tea. Perfect for Southern sweet-tea (a diluted iced tea with massive sugaring). Once you get the cellophane off, you will want to put this into foil, or a tea tin left over from a fancy brand, so the top flavor doesn't run away. They do a good job delivering fresh tea to the store shelf, though. For the price, and with buffering, this is very good tea. Not as clear as Lipton, but with a wider, fuller flavor.

As far as I am concerned, this is the gold standard for tea. I was born in upstate New York and now live near the Gulf Coast; thus I am forced to order this online. It has a full, robust flavor that is wonderful with sugar added. Try brewing it in the sun with fresh mint leaves and serve it iced...YUMMY. I have found it is best to not get the water TOO hot. For example, the hot water dispenser on the office coffee machine does not produce the same wonderful flavor as heating water on the stove to near-boiling. I willingly order it online, and when I serve it for guests they rave. You can order the Earl Grey version directly from Red Rose - also very nice.

This has always been my favorite tea. I start off each day drinking a glass of it, then continue on to the afternoon, when I switch to decaf. My complaint? Why are there no K cups? Red Rose seems to think you want flavored teas for the Keurig, but my friends and I want plain black tea. Come on Red Rose!

These boxes have individually wrapped bags which I like. The boxes of 100 are not wrapped. I like to have the paper wrap to set my tea bag on when I'm through so it does't drip on the way to the trash. Gone are the days of setting our bag on a saucer! Also, if you set them out for visitors, the wrapped bags are much nicer.

I have been drinking Red Rose both hot and iced for over 30 years. I was introduced to the brand by an English War bride in early 1970's. She claimed that Red Rose was the only "American" tea that tasted proper.

I Know that compared to other leading brands of black tea Red Rose does not get bitter if you leave the bag in the cup yet is has real tea flavor and aroma. This is real black tea. I drink herb tea or plain water when Red Rose is not available.

Collecting the "prizes" is just a sideline. My children and now my grandchildren have literally fought for the honor of opening the new package of Red Rose to get the figurine.
