Product Description

Red Sea aiptasia are a pest often introduced via live rock or corals that can rapidly reach plague proportions in marine aquaria, destroying corals and other precious livestock. Aiptasia-X consists of natural components which form a thick adhesive material. This unique formula is sensed as food and therefore ingested. The ingested adhesive seals the anemone's mouth preventing the release of planula (larvae). Within minutes of application, the treated aptasia will implode, eradicating both the anemone and its planula. Effective and easy to use, aiptasia-X provides a solution to a problem experienced by almost every reef-keeper at one time or another through the life of their aquarium. This kit includes a 2.02-ounce bottle of formula, applicator syringe and 2 applicator tips (1 straight, 1 angled). Kit treats approximately 100 aiptasia anemones.

This may be the best product for killing Aiptasia. Unlike some others, you can see where you are shooting it, and its syringe works better than some other syringes. If you can let a drop touch the open mouth of an Aiptasia, it will die. But...

- If you disturb the Aiptasia before squirting -- perhaps by touching it with the syringe -- the Aiptasia may close its mouth and not be killed by it.
- If you feed the Aiptasia before squirting, its mouth might happen to be closed, and you'll only make it mad.
- If you do not kill every single Aiptasia in the tank, then those who survive will generate more. Almost every tank has one or two good hideouts for Aiptasia.

Biological control of Aiptasia has promise, but it has drawbacks, too:
- sometimes a reputed predator of Aiptasia doesn't like them. I've seen this with Peppermint shrimp and various fish;
- sometimes an Aiptasia predator, such as a Butterfly fish, has (or acquires) a taste for other polyps, too. So once your Aiptasia are gone, you may lose other things.
- Berghia will only eat Aiptasia, which means that under the best circumstance, you'll wind up with a few Aiptasia, and a few starving Berghia. Or you might find that your last Berghia has starved to death before the last Aiptasia has been found and eaten. Or that your Aiptasia manage to eat your Berghia.

I recommend Aiptasia-X. I buy a few small bottles for the syringe, and refill them with the large refill size bottle.

So, having tried nearly everything to get rid of our Aiptasia, we bought this product. It seemed to knock them down without killing the fish or corals, but the next day some of them were back. After spending a week hunting Aiptasia each evening, I think we finally have it under control.

Some of them, however, took multiple doses to kill (one took 4 or 5). It's not all it's cracked up to be and we still have more coming back weeks later. I guess they're hard to get rid of...

I had some Aiptasia in my 60 gallon tank. The aiptasia was beginning to irritate/sting my fish and I finally needed a solution. This product works perfectly out of the box. You get the bottle of aiptasia-x and two syringes (one straight and one slightly angled). Follow the directions, which are very easy, and spot feed the aiptasia in your tank...it will self implode and disappear.

Like the product says, it will biodegrade over time and disappear.....AGREED. It is out of my tank now and everything is back to being happy again.

Works ok and I understand is the best product available at the moment but you need to apply at every cleaning because aiptasia just keeps popping up. Kilsl most of it. Sometimes it doesn't but I figure it has to do with how much the coral actually ingested.

Excellent product. I had a few aptasia in my reef aquarium. Applied product and its been over a month they haven't returned. Also used it to kill some mushroom polyps in my tank that grow like weeds and fight with corals.

KILL, KILL, KILL - DIE, DIE, DIE. If you hate Aiptasia in your reef tank as much as me and your shrimp of copperband are not doing the trick. Aiptasia-X is your new best friend. Just make sure you get it to eat it and it will die, if it closes before you get it to it's mouth it will be injured but not die. I killed 10-12 so far and still have 3/4 of a bottle.
This stuff is awesome if you do it right.

Personally, I think there's no other product that compares to Aiptasia-X. Following the instructions, turn off all water flow and start application. I applied it to over 30 the first night and the next day they were all gone. Not a trace of them at all. Other fish and coral are fine. If you have Aiptasia's in your tank, look no further for a remedy.
