5.0 out of 5 stars Searphim Shock is shockingly great music, December 1, 2009

This band kind of snuck up on me, I had never heard of Seraphim Shock and a friend said hey you have to hear these guys. I am really glad I did. They have a brilliant use of played instruments to electronic sounds that blend together amazingly well. If you like bands like Type O Negative, then check these guys out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gothic-Industrial dreamscape, April 21, 2005

I am disappointed in my fellow man that I must be the first to review such a fine album after nearly 8 years of its existence. It has to be said I don't own the actual CD, but I have listened to almost every track on it. Seraphim shock's style lies between gothic, metal and industrial. They create a realm of synthesizer-laced, atmospheric, distorted-guitar symphonies that remind one of Iced Earth, Bella Morte, Apoptygma Berzerk and Slipknot at different times. At times airy and gothic, other times cold and brutal, always well produced and backed with superb synth effects. I don't know anything about the band as far as origins and inspirations are concerned.

Standouts on the album are 'After Dark,' 'Relic,' and 'Bloodline.'

The band suffers, as far as I can tell from some second rate engineering, probably due to budget constraints. However, they do really well with what they have. The vocalist is gifted, equally capable of growling death metal-esque incantations and dreamy gothic serenades. My favorite part, as I have mentioned before is not the gothic flavored vocals or guitars, it's the superb synth work. NIN influence is also certainly detectable, and fans of Reznor would do well to check these guys out. It's too bad they have such little publicity.

5.0 out of 5 stars They became my favorite band upon first listen., December 10, 2008
This review is from: Red Silk Vow (Audio CD)
I discovered them before Napster was brought down hardcore. I was downloading stuff by CoF and whatnot, and I could view what other people had in their library. Someone had all the songs from "Red Silk Vow" in their library, and the first song I downloaded was "After Dark."

The song blew my mind, I immediately downloaded everything else.

The next song after that was "Beyond Forever." A 7 min plus song that is so good it feels as though it was only on for 2 minutes... It feels short. I could listen to it all day and never get tired of it.

I obtained "Nightmares" and it has some good work on it, especially "Some Sick Dream" "Molly's Web" and "Mommy Strange."

These two cds are quite possibly a few of the greatest contributions to Gothy Halloween style music.

PS: I think I got mine from Black and Read or ... I don't remember but dude, they ship fast... and I didn't have to pay over 20 bucks

5.0 out of 5 stars I want more!!, August 5, 2005
This review is from: Red Silk Vow (Audio CD)
Look - I'm a fifty three year old fart and love this group!! The Beyond Forever absolutely makes me cry. I dedicated it to the love of my life - my wife (we are childhood sweethearts from 30 years ago...). The group has excellent vocals; the lyrics all make sense. I wish they'd make more music!! I wish they'd come to ATLANTA!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Seraphim Shock Rocks!, June 28, 2005
This review is from: Red Silk Vow (Audio CD)
I went to see their new show that's promoting their new cd, Halloween Sex and Vegas (which you can order directly from their website www.seraphimshock.com) and I absolutely fell in love with the whole package. By that, I mean their stage presence, Charles Edwards vocals, the girls that they have dancing on stage, the energy they all bring to the shows. They are amazing! I highly recommend this cd. My personal favorites from Red Silk Vow are After Dark, Relic, God of this World, Rise and Resist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond Forever: The Best Metal Music on Earth, June 14, 2005

You just need to listen to this song, and you will be lifted up in the clouds, forgotten everything about life, time and problems of life: all you are left with eternity and immortality. It is rich in Piano and other various musical instruments. I have listened to this song over 10,000 times - and still I am. And yet, I cant sing like Seraphim Shock. It is brilliant song that it needs too much breath and voice and tone balancement. The lyrics are extraordinaryly designed. Just try this song, buy the album and have a try. If we dont try, we dont get anywhere. I can recommend to those who love experimental gothic/metal music. It is just shocking, like the name "shock".
