4.0 out of 5 stars Red In Good Form
This film, a special made for HBO in 1993, has Red Skelton performing before the Queen of England and a packed house of Laords, Ladies, and gentlemen. Skelton shows that he has not lost one bit of the talent and wit that made him on of America's best loved comedians for decades.

3.0 out of 5 stars What remained from the original performance was great
I had seen the original performance and was very excited to get the Video, but unfortunately alot of my favorite parts were not on the tape. If you haven't seen the original then you will love this tape. Red Skelton's performance is as always really great, but it was too short.

This film, a special made for HBO in 1993, has Red Skelton performing before the Queen of England and a packed house of Laords, Ladies, and gentlemen. Skelton shows that he has not lost one bit of the talent and wit that made him on of America's best loved comedians for decades.

Red tosses off jokes, one-liners, and works through elaborate pantomime routines both classic and new. His legendary rapport with audiences is in evidence here.

The only reservation I have about recommending this tape is the fact that on two ocassions there are un-politically correct portrayals of race. Both are something that a comedian could not get away with today. When viewing these one is advised to keep in mind that this special was made over 16 years ago and Skelton was man who's comedy was based in the 50's and 60's - a time when such portrayals were the norm. Red manages to get through these bits without being offensive.

To watch Red Skelton having just turned 70, with as much energy as when he was 30 is a delight. So is seeing the old routines brought to life again before a live audience.

(Be sure to watch the "Fisherman and the Little Boy" routine which alone is worth the price of the video)

It is a piece of classical pure and clean laughter. You do not see this kind of comedy any more. Red Skelton is a master clown.
