"Where Have You Gone" has given me a much greater appreciation
of the history of the Red Sox after reading the stories of the former players Steve Buckley has assembled in his book. Dom MiMaggio to Pumpsie Green to Jim Corsi, the reader learns within three pages aliquotted per player, important stats, their background, how they came to be with the team, and where they are now. In addition, an interesting anecdote is included. The best read of my summer. Learned a lot about players I only heard of in passing without really knowing much else. Now, when they are mentioned I can place a face and accomplishments with the name.

This review is from: Red Sox: Where Have You Gone? (Paperback)
Each sports team has its stars, and and each one has its cult heroes. And all teams have those players that are forgotten nationally, but the utterance of whose name can bring a smile to the face of a fan long after that player has retired.
Steve Buckley, or "Buck," as he's known to his Boston sports writing readers, has selectively pulled names from Red Sox history and, in some cases, revived them from the land of the forgotten. The only problem with a book like this - when written properly - is that it leaves the fan hungry for more. Bring on Reid Nichols! Where is Bob Zupcic? Show me Jack Brohamer! I'd love to see Buck follow up this book with another volume.

STEVE BUCKLEY DOES A GREAT JOB ON THIS MUST READ FOR OLDER RED SOX FANS. I ONLY SAY THIS BECAUSE MANY OF THESE PLAYERS ARE FROM 1930'S TO 1990'S AND MANY YOUNGER FANS MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY WITH THEM. BUT IF YOU ARE A LONG TIME FAN OR ARE INTERESTED IN THE EARLIER ERAS, THIS IS WELL WORTH IT. HE COVERS MANY PLAYERS JUST A FEW ARE BILLY CONIGLIARO, FRED LYNN, OIL CAN BOYD AND DOM DIMAGGIO. THIS BRINGS BACK ALOT OF NOSTALGIA WITH SHORT BUT INTERESTING TALES OF EACH PLAYER. I AM A CLEVELAND INDIANS FAN BUT I ALWAYS PULL FOR THE RED SOX AGAINST THE HATED PINSTRIPES.
