This review is from: Red Stacks over the Horizon: The Story of the Goodrich Steamboat Line (Paperback)
If you're looking for a book that is absolutely packed with information, statistics and photos of every boat that sailed under Goodrich (and then some) this is the book you are looking for. It is extremely precise with detailed information and I was amazed to find that Mr. Elliott was able to track the histories of every engine (which are reused). It wasn't unusual to see an engine in use even after 80 years!
There are too many B&W photos and sketches to count, dating as far back as 1835 as well as the history of the Goodrich family and the Great Lakes. This book is a well thought out documentary which took Mr. Elliott years to compile. Thankfully he took the time to preserve this information for us and our future generations. Mr. Elliott has spent most of his life living on or near the Great Lakes and is one of the last living witnesses of the wreck of the Eastland, July 1915. I am honored to be one of his employees.
