This review is from: Red Star over Southern Africa (Hardcover)
Red Star Over Southern Africa is a dated, yet relevant book about the communist influence over Southern Africa. Written in the 1980's the author discusses the strategic consequences of a southern Africa dominated by the Communists. This book is not quick paced or exciting and realistically, you probably will not like this book unless you have a specific interest in South Africa, Rhodesia-Zimbabwe and the rest of the conflicts that raged in the 70's and 80's. The author is critical of the communist backed insurgencies, but is also very critical of racism and apartheid.I found this book really interesting because I find this part of the world fascinating. If you're looking for a war book, this ain't it! If you're looking for an education, pick up a copy! |
