Book Description

July 2006
This funny, quirky flip book gives readers red and blue the lowdown on all 50 states:
What if you're a Blue Stater-and now you find yourself in a Red State. Where will you watch films free from the taint of "traditional family values"?
Or
What if you're a Red Stater-and now you find yourself in a Blue State. Where will you find a "real" church?
Whichever "other country" readers wake up and find themselves in, Red State/Blue State will help them survive the nightmare. They'll learn about its leaders, its thoughts on hot-button issues, its political scandals, and its vestiges of "the other" long thought lost forever.

More About the Author

I was born October 28, 1969, in Memphis, in the hospital at which Elvis's autopsy was performed. Soon after (my birth, not Elvis's autopsy), my father moved my mother and me to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where we lived across the street from the base housing at which Jeffrey MacDonald slaughtered his family, claiming the deed was done by wayward hippies ("Acid is groovy. Kill the pigs!" --alleged wayward hippie).

I grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee. I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a bacherlor's in English and religious studies (!!). In my mid-20s, I moved to Las Vegas, where I earned my master's (in English, UNLV, 1996), met my first wife, got my first paid writing gig (a bar review column written as The Nightcrawler), and my first job in journalism (thanks, Paula!).

Nowadays, I'm married to my second wife, Tiffany. I have a son, Parker-John, from my first wife and two step-kids, Jake and Abigail. I'm a high school English teacher who also writes all kinds of books on all kinds of subjects (thanks, Paula!), from politics and romance to towns with dirty names and my favorite "dirty" town, Las Vegas.

I am always interested in new writing projects. I'm fast, I'm good, and I can write about pretty much anything (as long as I understand it...math-related projects, bad; towns with dirty names, good).
