An energetic and captivating album,

"Red" is certainly a worthy follow-up to "The Promise (1991)", providing a little something for everyone. After seven years, T'Pau has proven again that solid rock and meaningful lyrics are not mutually exclusive. "with a little luck" and "wing and a prayer" are positive and upbeat tracks. "love song" and "giving up the ghost" provide heart-wrenching counter point to each other. For those head-bangers out there, "let it fall" and "sweet dreams" are hard-rockin tunes. My personal favorite is "do the right dance," a country/rock mix about a struggling relationship. This album is definitely worth it.

What can I say? I've been a T'Pau & Carol Decker fan since the beginning of their careers.....and this long awaited album has something for everyone,....."Giving Up the Ghost" and "Love Song", two of the most wondrous ballads I've listened to in the last five years....intelligent lyrics, dreamy + simply, beautifully arranged melodies. As well, it has more rock oriented songs like "Let it all Fall" and "Sweet Dreams", the very catchy pop song (and first single) "With a Little Luck", the country oriented "Do the Right Dance" and "Make Love to Me",etc. I haven't stopped listening to this cd since I bought it more than two years ago, nor to all of the rest of T'Pau's albums.

AS GOOD AS IT GETS!,

T'Pau is truly one amazing band, with one amazing vocalist. Carol Deckers vocals just get so deep into you, I can't imagine anyone not falling in love with it the first time they hear it. 15 years after their debut album and it's still one of the most played CD's I own. So many have never heard T'Pau or even know of them, Man, what their missing out on!!! For those of you who really love Carol Deckers vocals, I have another big time recomendation for you!! A band called TEXAS, no their not country, and their not even from the U.S. They are another AMAZING group with an absolutely amazing female vocalist, much to the likes of T'Pau. SERIOUSLY worth checking out!!! And if you can find it anywhere, "Wild Blue" No More Jinx, another under rated, overlooked band.

This album features the second incarnation of T'Pau but T'Pau was always only about Carols voice anyway so what the hey!!The songs are vintage Carol and cover all tastes from the ballads of "Love Song" and "Now that You're Gone", country in "Do the Right Dance" to the rock of "Let it All Fall" which has been head-banged to at the live shows!!If you only buy one T'Pau album then buy "Rage" but you will be missing out on some excellent music if you don't buy "Red" as well!

NOW WE'RE TALKING MUSIC,

T'pau is one of few groups who can perform LIVE and produce their own material. This is a definate for all music lovers. If you haven't heard T'pau yet, well what can I say! Yes I am a fan, BUT this album has beaten the old T'pau. Get it, try it, listen, then I wouldn't need to explain anymore. We need more stuff like this, Especially the likes of CAROL DECKER ('fraid you can't beat this vocalist, try as you might).

Carol's worst effort,

I always liked T'Pau. Carol Decker's voice is so sexy and the music was always very rich and poppy. This cd was a big disappointment for me. The lyrics, the music, the songwriting in general....there just isn't much substance here. Most of this cd is just throwaway material. The two best songs on the cd, in my opinion, are at the very end of the cd. "Let It Fall" and "Sweet Dreams" are vintage T'Pau songs. Something that could have been on the first cd. "With A Little Luck", the first song, is okay. Carol's vocals are great, but the music is a little thin. The rest of the cd is a snoozefest. If you want to get some of T'Pau's material, go for the amazing, self-titled first cd. The "Greatest Hits" cd is also great to have. You'll want to skip over this one though. |
