It's not that I didn't like this book, because I did. And there was never a time where I got bored with the story. But I truly would have liked to have seen more in depth into what the religious artifact really was that was finally discovered. The story concentrates on the search and politics of those opposed to the artifact ever being found or if found, what they wish to do with it based on what they BELIEVE this artifact actually is. I have no issues with the characters that are portrayed, they are not your normal cast of international spies and Assassins. They are more human. Hmmm, I don't know. It was a good book. I just found that I wanted more. I will read the next book that is to be released in June though. And I think there was a book prior to this one. It is a good book. It was worth the money, and well worth the read. Just I wanted more.

It really bothers me when authors can't keep their stories straight. In one place, the Russian museum curator's wife is said to have left town for greener pastures after the USSR dissolved. Not 20 pages later we read about her being killed in a train explosion. Which is it? In another place, a book is described as 18 inches long and a foot and a half wide. ARRGHHH!
It was a good story, but the devil's in the details.

I've read all the templer series books and enjoyed them greatly. the "RED TEMPLER"
is no exception. From the very first pages to the last pages I could hardly put it down. I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out in June-"VALLEY OF THE TEMPLERS". Paul Christopher is becoming one of my favorite writers

It seems there are some readers out there bothered by a plethora of details Mr. Christopher got wrong. So be it. There were so many other details keeping me busy, I never noticed. Having never been to Russia, or just because I took it all at face value, I didn't look too deeply at things. Now if I'd been more familiar with the territory, I might have cried foul. As it was, I found myself absorbed with his swift writing style, his way of keeping the reader on their toes.A lot of the story takes place in sewers... Russian sewers. This would have to be the smelliest of all of his Templar adventures, so far. Another thing was that there were no significant female characters in it. Though there were a few assasins on their tails, most of them missed out on the action, or if they got close, no cigar. Despite all, it was still a fun ride. More of a real treasure hunt, this time around. I had a great time. On top of that, if I'd wanted to pay more attention, I might have picked up a few Russian phrases. Another unique twist was using a few real people in the story... well, at least two that I know of, that are living (besides real historical figures). What can I say? I enjoyed it. He writes in solid third person, doesn't mix POVs and writes in relatively short paragraphs, scenes and chapters. It was an easy read with an interesting premise and locations. Couldn't ask for more. It kept me glued to my seat. Highly recommended.

I finished this book less in three days. It is action pack, fast moving book, and kept you guessing till the end. I love this one series because the author did not throw in any unnecessary love interest for Doc in this book to drag down the story (I do miss Cousin Peggy, but she did get mention ins this book). I love Doc Holiday, he is not some thirty years old superspy, he has his up and down, and make mistakes along the way, but kept marched on. I love Eddie, he and Doc compliment each other in skill and temperment, I really enjoy to know both character's back story.
My only complain is too many bad guy trying to kill Doc in the series and the history lesson seemed too far fetch, but this is a Templar series, so I had to overlook that part. I can't wait until June to read the next book. |
