There's a real problem at Project Neptune. The rescue, rehab, and release facility for stranded and injured animals is already overcrowded. Now a disastrous red tide has put hundreds of fish, turtles, birds, seals, dolphins and other wildlife in jeopardy.

The red tide disaster has turned the normally sparkling blue-green water into a murky reddish brown. The poisonous red algae first kills the fish and starts a chain reaction, wiping out the sea animals and birds that eat the fish.
Meanwhile, cousins Dana and Tyler Chapin discover an abandoned building near Project Neptune that looks like a perfect solution to the group's animal overcrowding problem, but the owner doesn't want to get involved...until she finds out that an environmental disaster like red tide can affect her, too!
