Another winner from Kendall and Leto,
By Steve Emerine (Tucson, AZ United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Red Top (Audio CD)
Saxophonist Paul Kendall and drummer Bob Leto pick up from where they left off on their first effort, "Excursion," with this fine CD on the Brownstone label. Pianist Kenny Drew Jr. joins bassist John Ray as the group presents the title tune and "Secret Love," which were recorded with their first CD. Then organist Bobby Forrester takes over the keyboard chores for "Minority," "Blues by Five," "Dearly Beloved," "Soul Eyes," "I Remember You," "The More I See You" and "Girl Talk." This New York quartet plays fine music, and all nine tunes make for very good listening. Forrester does well with the organ, but I hope they can lure Drew or another pianist back for their next CD.

This is a wonderful trio, but Bob Leto is out of this world with his creativity. Vita
