Yet another best of?,
By Paul Lawrence "'EJL'" (Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Red White & Crue (Audio CD)
The number of best of packages this band has put out is starting to grate. Including music to crash your car to this has to be about the - what - fourth or fifth such release thus far. Talk about maximising your incomings while minimising your outgoings....
Regardless this is a valid enough proposition given that the band used it to garner interest for the attendant extravaganza of a tour. Starting from the start of the story with Live Wire and moving through the bands hard rock career this release has a couple of curios. Remix verstions of a couple of songs such as Too Young To Fall In Love and the 91 remix of Home Sweet Home as well as alternate versions of a couple of their later tunes. The songs in the main still sound fresh which is a real achievement and the X factor aura of the band carries them a long way in making them one of your guilty pleasures you don't feel so guilty about. And in terms of mallethead hard rock it is hard to argue with Girls Girls Girls and Kickstart My Heart. I was happy to see that Hooligans Holiday was included which was pretty much the flagship song from the sole John Corabi voiced album. The band have at least had the decency to include something from that much maligned album. We also get newer stuff such as If I Die Tomorrow and Sick Love Song which fit in fairly well with the older material. As does stuff such as Hell On High Heels from the New Tattoo album. Given the commercial stature of Motley Crue in North America and many other parts of the world it's a fair bet to say that anybody reading this review knows what they're looking at buying here. A look at the track list is probably all you need to know regarding whether you want this or not. Or whether you'd rather burn your own disc of favourites. My copy was a streamlined package that came with no booklet, so I can't comment on that part of the release. Fans should check the track list. Newcomers can pretty much guy this with confidence knowing that it really does contain a heck of a lot of quintessential Crue cuts and will provide you with a window to the bands muse.

The Crue ROCKS!!!!!,

This review is from: Red White & Crue (Audio CD)
This disc covers the Crue from the early years with hits like live wire to more recent tunes like If I die tomorrow. There are even some tunes that don't sound like the Crue at all but still rock. If you were alive in the 80's this is a must have.
