Book Description

June 24, 1999
Contempory Fiction: "Red Wine for Breakfast" stars Jenny Reed; a 34 year old born-again Californian from New York, who plays "macho Monopoly" by her own rules. She had it all; the number one morning radio show, a wonderful best friend and a nice non-committal affair with the station owner, Brian Allen.

Success was all she ever wanted until Johnny King became her on-air partner and challenged her to play his own game. The day she beat him was the day she gained his respect. It was also the day she lost her best friend in an apparent suicide, or was it murder?

Red Wind For Breakfast is now published by Book-On-Disc.Com in two CD versions, 3.5 diskettes and email file transfers in Win 95/98 formats: Adobe Pdf, Internet Html and Richtext Rtf.

About the Author

While working on my high school paper, I discover a "Press Pass" gave me access to areas and people that the general public never got a chance to see. I decided to become a journalist. What one dreams of at the age of 15 isn't always the path life takes us. During my freshman year at the University of Missouri-Columbia's School of Journalism, I fell in love with the college's radio station....and the station manager....and changed majors, schools, and careers. I left the Midwest and headed home to New York where I transferred to Syracuse University. During that time, I also worked at WELV in my hometown. Changing my on air name to "Julie Russell" I produced and starred on my own weekend program. Seeking fame and fortune, I moved to California and soon discovered there were hundreds of would-be radio stars and television broadcasters and not nearly enough jobs. To pay the rent, I became a store manager at Radio Shack where I met Bill Westmiller. One night after work, I asked him if he wanted to go out for a beer. We discovered that we not only shared a background in broadcasting, but he was a writer as well. We were married and over the next five years we had three daughters, Tandy, Kimberly and Michelle. I put much of my time and energy into my family. Then, a tragic accident took the life of my best friend, Mary Ellen Grable. To work through my grief, I combined my skills at writing and my experience in the radio industry to create "Red Wine For Breakfast", a fictional novel about the volatile world of a Los Angeles radio station.

I've had articles published in "The Writers Connection" and "Westlake Magazine". I'm currently the newsletter editor of the Ventura County Writers Club, member of the National Writers Union and League of American Pen Women.

This review is from: Red Wine for Breakfast - Book on CD, Win 95/98 (CD-ROM)
Reading "Red Wine for Breakfast" was like going home. As a former program director/news director at various radio stations, I could immediately relate to the characters in this book--I've worked with them. And, even without my insider's knowledge, this book is a fantastic read--intriguing, action-packed and a page turner. I can't wait to see more from this author!
