It's pretty fast and seems to plenty of good power, and I'm sure on LiPo it is very fast with gobs of power.

I have this truck now for 3 months and I use 2s lipo 5000 mah and runs really fast about 45 mph, as a hobby grade toy
any rc require maintenance like a real car, i really beat up this truck really hard and nothing broken at the moment just the body shell and I replaced already, i installed a new fast servo metal gears, always use tread lock on screws as the manual says so read the manual of how to maintained, go to youtube and lock for how adjust gear mesh on rc car very important.

I bought this truck to experiment with, because I already own a few Traxxas R/C's, and I also couldn't beat the price for this truck. To say 1st this is a nice truck to drive, but you should drive it with a 2s Lipo battery. The Lipo will turn this truck into a monster, and believe me I've run this thing pretty hard and jumped ramps and all with it and it has withstood the beating so far. Only thing I've hurt is the body a little bit, but I had already taped it before I drove it in order to perserve it from the beating, and the steering servo is weak but I already changed it and put in a Traxxas 2075 waterproof servo. You can get about 37-40mphs running 2s Lipo , and if you rewire the fan to the receiver and add a motor heatsink you can run a 3s Lipo with blazing speeds & power around 45-mph.
As much as I love my Traxxas Stampede, this truck can out handled it, but I do have a vxl-3s in the Stampede so its just overall faster top speed. I will give Redcat credit because if you look online you will find a plenty of parts and hop-Ups for this truck.
But at this time I still think its hands down the best bang for the buck! And for all those complaining about breaking stuff, I've can't count how many times I've had to fix any r/c including my top quality Traxxas, so just to let you know they all will breakdown. And on another note most of these r/c's are from China including the top quality ones.
thanks,

This is a great rc brushless truck. Probably one of the best out there for the money. Now I must say that right out of the box it will require some tuning. By tuning I mean that it comes with the esc set up for a lipo battery nevertheless the truck comes with a ni-mh battery. So needless to say the truck at first will run like crap set like this. You must read and understand how to set the esc correctly for the different type of batteries you plan on using. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS ENOUGH, GET YOURSELF A LIPO BATTERY AND CHARGER. You can go with a 7.4v 20c 2000mah which is not too expensive. I picked up a great universal lipo/ni-mh battery charger from my local hobbytown for $44 (a great deal).

Once you go with a lipo, you'll never go back to those old school ni-mh batteries again, trust me. With all that out of the way, this truck is extremely durable, fast, & redcat stands behind there warranty. I as well had the steering servo go out and redcat sent me a replacement at absolutely no cost, within just a few days. Why go and spend twice as much as a traxxas stampede for example when this truck is built stronger and is half the price.

Well hope this helps.....Have fun

The Redcat Caldera 10E exceeded my expectations. My previous hobby-grade r/c was a Traxxas Rustler, which I really liked a lot. I actually bought mine used off of Amazon, and could tell it had some 'miles' on it, though everything was in decent order, minus a questionable steering knuckle. I run it completely stock and it performs quite well. It's pretty fast and seems to plenty of good power, and I'm sure on LiPo it is very fast with gobs of power. It handles quite well, too, considering that it's a beefy monster truck, albeit a lower slung one. The thing that really gets the fifth star for me is the durability. I have fun with it and don't try to damage it, but it has seen it's share of crashes. I'm amazed at how well it has held up - my son actually smashed it with his power wheels dune buggy, and NOTHING BROKE!!! Great price for what you get - Lots of fun - Very durable. Highly recommend.

Pretty fun. I bought this new at an rc shop in Houston and saved 50 bucks. The truck is FAST. I want expecting it to be as fast as it was and slammed into a curb at full throttle. The screw in the steering knuckle fell out. After about 10 minutes of fixing it, I took it back out. The crap battery it comes with only lasts about 20 minutes of hard play. I'll be buying a LiPo battery and charger soon. It's my first Redcat but won't be my last. Might get a Nitro next.
