I have read this book and I felt I was reading the letters I wrote home to my wife and family. I served in the same unit as
George T. Farawell Company D. 4TH./ 12TH 199TH LIB and though
I never met him when Patty contacted me to see if I could help her find the men who served with him I went on a mission to help.
The way the book was presented it was awsome. It made my heart cry, and my mind wonder all the what if's The Redcatchers love
you and your family Patty.

I just finished reading the book. It was very touching and I couldn't help my emotions to show. I read that book in one breath and even though I don't know you and I wasn't lucky enough to know or hear about your brother until now I can tell that he was a great person. I really felt that I have to write to you and let you know that the book shows the hell that the young men had to go through and never have a chance to live their lives. It also shows the grief and pain of the loving family after loosing somebody so close. It was a great idea to share your memories. Because of that I know that long time ago, before I was even born (I'm 24) and before I came to America (I came from Poland 10 years ago), there was a wonderful young men who was really brave and who will be remembered by his family, friends and everybody who reads your book.

"A Redcatcher's Letters From Nam" is a heartfelt presentation of a family's loss.

George T. Farawell was a young man from New Jersey who died in Viet Nam. This book, written by his sister, is a touching blend of the past and present, enveloped by the emotional struggle of dealing with a tragic loss.

The story is simple yet powerful. A synopsis of the 199th Light Infantry Brigade is a fitting tribute to all those who served in it's ranks. Snapshots of what is was like growing up in an industrial New Jersey town identify George as a person like many of us. Reflections of family and friends exemplify the pain and sadness and loss all of George's friends and family experienced as a result of his death.

The essence of this book, however, is exactly what the title tells us. It is the almost daily letters George wrote home during his tour in Viet Nam that are the highlight. These make George come to life for all of us who read them. They are personal but are presented in their original content and by reading them we realize the type of person George was.

I highly recommend reading this book. It is a correct and fitting tribute to a young man who completed his duty as a soldier. Indeed, it is a tribute to all those who have served honorably in the ranks of our nation's armed services. It makes us realize the struggles we must endure to preserve our humanity.
