Redeemed!,
By "james@inanagreement.com" (Baton Rouge, LA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Redeemed from Poverty, Sickness, and Spiritual Death (Paperback)
This book shows us that sickness is of the devil, and that Jesus redeemed us from it. Some people quote from "my bible" which means from their own understanding, and not the Word's. Before I read this book, my own understanding was that sickness and poverty was of God, and that Jesus made it available to us when he died for us to redeem us from health and prosperity. Gosh, "my bible" was sure uphended when I found out that Jesus was the good guy and the devil was the bad guy. Sure, Paul left Trophimus sick, but Paul didn't carry healing power around with him. Gradual healings are mentioned in the Bible, and this verse only back up what the Bible teaches, not what "someone's bible" says. You understand that Hagin didn't cover ever detail in this book about healing that there is to know. In fact, only one third of this book is directed towards healing, as you can see by the title, so you don't get single issue mentioned in this book. However, you will find truths and scriptures verifying that Jesus redeemed from sickness, not health like others would have you believe.

One of my favorite books,
By Stephanie J. Thiess "Mommy and me Bellydancer" (Cincinnati, OH United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Redeemed from Poverty, Sickness, and Spiritual Death (Paperback)
What a great book. This explains, with scripture, why we are redeemed from the curse of the law(the curse found in deut28) this book uses Galations 3:13 as well, which says we are redeemed from the curse of the law,Jesus being made a curse for us...The curse includes sickness, poverty, and spirtual death, also in deut 28 it reads every sickness that is not written in this book. Thanks be to God who sent his son to bear our sin, and became a curse for us, so we didn't have to become a curse. Adam set the curse into motion, and Jesus redeemed us from it. My husband and I bothe really enjoyed and grew with this great book.

Yes Redeemed...but how is a different story,
By
This review is from: Redeemed from Poverty, Sickness, and Spiritual Death (Paperback)
I have listened to Hagin since 1978 so I am very familiar with his ministry and teachings. Most Word of Faith folks believe that we are redeemed from the curse of the Law according to Gal 3:13. But, I challenge those who think this to go back and read the verse in context. Yes, Jew and Gentile were redeemed through Christ, but according to scripture, those who are under the curse of the Law are the same folks who are under the Law. Now follow me: A Gentile was NEVER under the Law to begin with therefore, a Gentile is not redeemed from the curse of the Law for he was never under the Law to begin with. I challenge you to search the scriptures. Gentiles were never under the Law therefore, not under the curse of the Law. But, a Gentile is under the curse that was brought through Adam and is redeemed from this curse through being grafted into the same blessing stream once only enjoyed by the Jews. So, Hagin is correct to say that we are redeemed. I just believe that the way it is taught in modern charismatic christianity falls short of accuracy.

Not Biblical,
This review is from: Redeemed from Poverty, Sickness, and Spiritual Death (Paperback)
I bought this book to read both sides of the word-faith. And after much research have concluded that Hagin is wrong. His whole premise rests on "the curse of the Law" from Gal 3:13 referring to all the curses in Deuteronomy. But that is a huge stretch and takes the verse out of context. To see what it refers to go three verses back. Paul says in verses 10-11 that the curse is trying to observe the whole law, and that anyone that does that is not justified before God. I suppose Haginites could argue that not being justified before God means being under a physical curse (sickness and poverty). But "the wages of sin is death", not disease. We are redeemed from spiritual death, but not sickness and poverty. God can bless us by taking away sickness and poverty, but it's not something we can claim like salvation spiritual death (separation from God).In his response to another one of the reviews for this book, G. Maxwell says that Christians can and will get sick but we just need to believe and receive healing from Jesus. So when a christian is sick there are two possibilities (according to this thinking): 1) he isn't really believing that Jesus redeemed him from the sickness, or 2) he is starting to be healed, but still feels sick (maybe it's not always instantaneous). #1 is plausible, but not #2. If a true believer dies of a sickness it's just because God didn't act fast enough??? Kenneth Hagin died of heart disease (a sickness). How can that be? Wouldn't he have believed that Jesus redeemed him from heart disease? I'm not trying to be sarcastic, I really would like to know how Word-faith people explain this.

This is heresy!,
This review is from: Redeemed from Poverty, Sickness, and Spiritual Death (Paperback)
You should all be aware of the fact that Hagin is not following the principles according to my bible. Nowhere does my bible tell me that I shall never be sick. As a matter of fact Timothy who was one of Paul's closest associates, he was sick and suffered from several diseases. That's why Paul told him to drink some wine. If you don't believe me just check your bible. I'm praying for all of those who believe Hagin is right, and I do hope that Jesus will show you what is right. I would like to recommend my favorite author: Max Lucado. He is much better to read than Hagin, no offense. God bless you all who visit this page. Jesus is alive!
