An African-American beauty. Nicole C. Mullen. One of God's precious.,
By M.K. (Norfolk, VA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Redeemer: The Best of Nicole C Mullen (Audio CD)
As one of Christian music's most respected singer/songwriters of the last decade, the beautiful and talented Nicole C. Mullen gives us 17 of her most well-known and popular songs. Writing songs with and for artists like Jaci Velasquez, Rachel Lampa, Anointed and more has proven that she is great as a Christian artist herself. My favorites are the all-time worship anthem, "Redeemer", "Call on Jesus" and "On My Knees". Her songwriting credits has been astonishing, seeing that she also write alongside her husband, legendary songwriter/producer David Mullen. She has celebrated success with her Word Music labelmates Jaci Velasquez and Rachel Lampa. She always been a favorite on several compilations and soundtracks ("Joshua" (duet with Mark Schultz), "Left Behind: World at War" and the recent movie release, "End of the Spear"). With the titles of singer, songwriter and producer, she can add fashion designer to that list. The girl's got soul for clothes.Nicole C. Mullen. One of God's precious gems and a force to be reckoned with. Pray for her continue success with her continued walk with Jesus Christ and her career. This seasoned veteran's coming at cha'! Praise the Lord!

Best of album showcases some of Nicole's finest,
This review is from: Redeemer: The Best of Nicole C Mullen (Audio CD)
I first saw Nicole C. Mullen on a tour in the early 90s when she was opening for the Newsboys, who were opening for Petra (would that have made her the opening-opening?). Back then, she was simply known as "Nicole" and her limited set included athletic dance moves and Mullen's own rapping. Since that time she's become a household name in Christian music with 20 Grammy and Dove Award nominations to her credit (including a Dove win for penning the Jaci Velasquez hit "On My Knees").This 17-song "best of" disc offers a wide variety of cuts from Nicole C. Mullen, Talk About It, Live from Cincinnati - Bringin' It Home, and Nicole's most recent, Everyday People. Also featured is "Always Love You" from the End of the Spear soundtrack, and fans should enjoy live versions of "Redeemer" and "Call on Jesus". Listeners will follow Mullen's journey as she evolves from her safe debut album to Everyday People's fuller, more urban sound. Redeemer runs the gamut of Mullen's musical styles. From the groovy gospel feel of "Message to Ya", the tribal dance rhythms of "Freedom" (just try sitting still to this one), the smooth R&B found on "Without You," or the reflective worship of "Call on Jesus," the album is a well-rounded sampling of her talents. The selections showcase her vocal range, and you'll cruise the full spectrum of musical moods with her in this all-encompassing work. Fans of Mary Mary and Out of Eden will find themselves dancing to the beats of several songs, but there are enough slower tempo cuts to appeal to those who enjoy a more reverent feel to their music. Nicole C. Mullen is an artist to keep on watching, and Redeemer will be a great addition to your collection. --Reviewed by Tracy Darlington for Infuze magazine

Lots of variety,
This review is from: Redeemer: The Best of Nicole C Mullen (Audio CD)
I'm a big fan of "Best of" or "Greatest Hits of" CD's, because it gives you the most bang for your buck (I don't own an IPOD). I just love some of Nicole's songs but didn't want to buy an entire CD for one or two singles. There are two versions each of "Reedemer" and "Call on Jesus", one studio version and one live. I love them both. The most surprising thing was the variety of music Nicole has on this CD - slow, fast, hip-hop, rap. But the core message remains the same - loving and praising the Lord.
