Book Description

January 10, 2002
Redeeming Factors is an alien first-contact tale combined with an unusual love story. It shows that no matter who you are and what you've done, your fate isn't carved in stone until you die. Even then, if you know the right people, there may yet be hope for your soul.

Along with the striking, original color cover artwork by renowned Israeli science-fiction artist Eugene Arenhaus, the novel also includes five of Mr. Arenhaus' dynamic full-page B&W illustrations.

About the Author

James R. Lane is a retired photojournalist who observed through the lens of his cameras both the glamorous and the grungy sides of mankind in the final, exciting decades of the 20th century. With over 23 years of experience reporting on the day-to-day wonders, strife, triumphs and tragedies that we Americans call life, Lane covered celebrations and disasters, killers and kings, politicians and pundits, sports giants and kindergarten frolics. Along the way he received a priceless education in what being human really means.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Judge This Book By Its Cover!, November 12, 2000

Intellegent. Thought provoking. Surprising. And a lot of fun! All the best bits of the genre rolled into one. I'll never be able to think of a 'bunny girl' ever again without thinking of Lane's S'leen. Amazingly as it may seem, this is one book that really is actually better than its impressive cover.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of those great surprises!, September 2, 2009

I have had a chance to get to know Mr. Lane over the past months and I must say he brings a lot of experience to the table for this book and his stories. If you are fortunate enough to talk to him, you'll find someone with depth, imagination and plenty of life knowledge. When these qualities translate to a story you'll find no less than an awesome book! Look for his next story also, you won't be disappointed!

4.0 out of 5 stars A very late review, February 6, 2007
This review is from: Redeeming Factors (Paperback)
Well, I'd searched for this title quiete a long time. Thanks Amazon, now I found it.
All in all a nicely written book. Though some minor things like the repetetive use of situations and the need to explain everything. Also a nicely done cover and some fine illustrations.
Mr. Lane is quiete good at setting of the stage and bring over the emotions of his characters. In this he has a very fine hand.
To make it short, it's a book I'ld buy again.
