5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Book, February 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Redeeming Stanley is a wonderful book. Bodie Parkhurst wrote a very funny novel that rings true. Her main characters are fleshed out. My favorite characters are Angela, an aptly named nitwit who tries to proselytize to Stanley, who is not receptive. My other fave is Weldon. Weldon reminded me of the kind of loser you might see on Cops. You know, the one whose troubles are due to the ineptitude and negligence of others. A very enjoyable read. C'mon Bodie Parkhurst, please write some more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Irreverent and entertaining, January 6, 2010

This review is from: Redeeming Stanley: A savage little tale of true love, old gods, bitches, bestiality, burnout, and above all, Payback. (Paperback)
Redeeming Stanley is fun and heartwarming. If you offend easily, and believe in turning the other cheek, fair play, and other behaviors that define us as "good," this is not for you. If you recognize that we can be good and exhibit all of the above traits most of the time, but need to acknowledge our inner bitch the rest of the time because face it, we're human, then you will love Redeeming Stanley.

I hoped that the blurb on the back of the book was true to the contents and it was. It is "a savage little tale of true love, old gods, bitches, bestiality, burnout, and above all, payback." It is blunt, earthy, and well-written.

Suspend reality and enjoy Bodie Parkhurst's creativity. So far, none of my female neighbors has developed a crush on me. Or maybe they have and they're just afraid of my wife! Read the book and you'll understand what I just said.

5.0 out of 5 stars First-Place Winner, Best of the Best E-Books Award 2009, December 14, 2009
This review is from: Redeeming Stanley: A savage little tale of true love, old gods, bitches, bestiality, burnout, and above all, Payback. (Paperback)
I asked for original....I got original. Redeeming Stanley is like no other book I've ever read, and that's saying a lot. Hilarious at every turn, Redeeming Stanley is a fast, fun page-turner of a novel.

I'm loath to summarize it because I don't want to give anything away, but if you've ever woken up and realized you were sleeping with someone way below you in the cosmic gene pool, this book is for you. If you've ever sought to redeem someone who is unredeemable , this book is for you. If you've ever wondered where the old gods hang out now, this book is for you. And if you've ever thirsted for revenge - good, old fashioned, hell-raising revenge, this book is for you.

If you're uptight, for God's sake, do not read this book. But if you're a grown-up with a sense of humor, you're going to love it.
