I have told EVERYBODY that I can about this book! It is a must read for avid readers and a necessary read for interested readers. I was moved by the connectedness of EVERYTHING in this modern day version of a bible story about "all things working together for the good". Briana Waters is 22 years old and happily married to Unzell Waters. When they were in college, Unzell was a star football player and slated to make millions in the pros. That is, until a horrible tackle left him injured. Briana and Unzell decide to move to Atlanta for a fresh start. They get just that when Unzell begins working for the hottest gospel artist, King d.Avid. Ironically, King d.Avid steps in when Brianna is feeling alone while her husband is off traveling with King d.Avid's production team. Brianna met him the first time when she was just 10 years old and never forgot. She soon finds out King d.Avid never forgot that meeting either. Does it matter that he was 25 years old at the time? Did God make them for each other? Tragedy strikes and Brianna is left having to make one of the toughest decisions of her life.

Griggs tells an old Biblical story in a new and relevant way. She does not hold anything back when it comes to the everyday temptations that tempt us all, even Christians. It was slow in the beginning but then picked up. I recommend this book for those that are looking for a book without sex scenes and foul language. This was a nice wholesome story, that was still real and not preachy.

A copy of Redeeming Waters was provided by the publisher for review purposes.

This is a MUST read for everyone. I do mean everyone, including males. As a True believer (christian), I knew I had the answers and outcome for this story. However, after reading this book, I found out, I was ooooohhhh so on the wrong path. This story brings about a clear understanding of 'Lean not unto thine own understanding, but unto the word of God'.

When reading this book, you must read the story, try not to detemine what's going to happen. Instead, read it and let the story develop. It will make a difference in your life, the way you live life and how you treat people.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Page Turner from Vanessa Davis Griggs, January 3, 2012
This review is from: Redeeming Waters (Paperback)
Unzell and Briana Waters were college sweethearts that later were happily married. During their college years, Unzell was a football star. With a NFL career ahead of him, he was destined for stardom. That was, until an unfortunate play that left Unzell unable to have football as his career. Determined to have a fresh start, Briana and Unzell decided to move to Georgia. While living in Atlanta, Unzell got a job working with gospel superstar King d.Avid. Unbeknownst to Unzell, Briana knew the artist from her childhood, and that it was not just an ordinary encounter...even though she was ten and he was twenty-five! Briana never forgot David R. Shepherd, and he didn't forget her either. While Unzell is travelling with King d.Avid's crew. Briana is home and starting to feel a little neglected, and that's when David steps in. An unforeseen tragedy happens and Briana has to make a decision that will affect the rest of her life. Will King d.Avid step in and take advantage of her while she is vulnerable, or will he just be a shoulder for her to lean on?

I have always enjoyed how author Vanessa Davis Griggs puts a twist on biblical stories and bring them into the modern world. While reading Redeeming Waters, there are some lessons to be learned and may have you questioning if you're on the right path. The author grabs your attention from page one and keeps it all the way until the end of the book. As you read this book, you will come to understand each character and their walk with or without God. As I always state when I read one of her books, Vanessa Davis Griggs is never preachy, she gets to the point, and it's something you'll definitely understand. Redeeming Waters is a very good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Redeeming Waters, December 28, 2011

I REALLY enjoyed this fresh spin on the biblical story of David and Bathsheba.

Both Brianna and King dAvid were likeable characters who continued to praise God through their hardships and tragedies.

I marveled at King.dAvid's strength and don't think I could have found a way to rejoice considering the events he experienced, but I guess that's the true meaning of "counting it all joy".

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read!, December 27, 2011
This review is from: Redeeming Waters (Paperback)
I cannot begin to tell you how much I looked forward to receiving this book, it was several months coming, but well worth the wait. This book is more than Christian Fiction, its lessons presented in a form you will truly enjoy; Vanessa Davis Griggs gives you a better understanding of biblical doctrine.

Vanessa Davis Griggs knows her Bible and is able to bring the modern day into well known biblical teachings, giving the verses more understanding for today's values. She accomplishes this by addressing issues that many churches prefer to avoid. She is not only witty about addressing uncomfortable issues she is realistic.

Should you be wrestling with questions of faith, fidelity, forgiveness, and the sovereignty of God, this is a must read for you. This Author is gifted, and I'm very thankful she shares her talent through writing. This is a book that you will not only enjoy but one you will share.

Thanks Goodreads! This is a new author for me and an author I plan to follow.

4.0 out of 5 stars Let the Waters Flow, October 13, 2011
This review is from: Redeeming Waters (Paperback)
What a powerful novel! You will laugh, you will cry, you will rejoice! Griggs has done an awesome job putting modern day religion into a novel! Readers will learn about Brianna and the trials and tribulations that she faces in a short period of time. Her faith is put to the test, but she stays steady within the Lord.

Griggs uses a scripture at the beginning of each chapter which coincides with what the chapter is about, which made me think about what I was about to read with each chapter. A very interesting concept!

My only disappointment in this novel was the fact that Griggs kind of just Alana, Brianna's best friend, out there. You don't know where she ends up working, if she ends up settling down, etc. It would have been nice to know that info. Overall, I truly enjoyed this novel and look forward to reading other novels by her.

Briana and Alana were 10 yrs. old when Briana's grandfather introduced them to Kingd.Avid. He was 15 yrs. older than them at the time. Briana married her high school sweetheart, Unzell. Unzell was recruited to play in the NFL, however he had a major injury that left him unable to play football. After several years, Kingd.Avid became a famous gospel singer his path and Briana's crossed again. Unzell unexpectedly died and Briana and Kingd.Avid's path once again crossed. This was a great story from start to finish.... I enjoy reading books from this author... Keep them coming.. Highly recommend...

5.0 out of 5 stars "When the sun shines while its raining....they say that the devil is beating his wife, August 24, 2011
This review is from: Redeeming Waters (Paperback)
The theme of water, rain, and renewal shine in the biblical based story. This is an amazing story! I have read this book twice. Once for the entertainment and the second time I read it for the lessons. Vanessa Davis Griggs is a masterful storyteller and she draws you in from the first page. Brianna, Kind d.Avid, and Alana are characters that everyone knows and everyone will love and/or dislike. The choice is yours. I won't give to much away but I will say that you will learn a lot, self reflect and apply the obvious lessons in this story in your everyday life. I give this story five stars and my READ IT NOW stamp of approval.
