misunderstood and underrated,

To those of you who know and love Atom, this album is a great step forward for him. Atom has always been inventive and eloquent, but this album contains some of his most musically tight and humorously thought-provoking work. Atom is often wrongly dismissed as a synth-pop novelty singer. He is, however, a talented singer/songwriter who does his absolute best with the tools at hand. His songs are often personal, but never feel exclusive. They are genuinely humorous, but are also quite poiniant. This humorous/serious mix is most evident in both "Anarchy means that I litter" and "If you own the Washington Redskins...". He is also a gifted arranger, evident in his covers of The Mountain Goats songs, including "the Seed Song" and "Going to Georgia". The wonderful originals are simply one man on an acoustic guitar and Atom transforms them into rich, melodic pieces without losing any their original feeling. To truly appreciate him, see him live (he tours constantly; check his website). His energy is astounding and infectious, he gives his all no matter how small the show. If you enjoy music created by corporate authority, Atom and his Package will be easy to ignore. If not, try it. It's like musical broccolli: an acquired taste, but very, very good for you!

Atom is not the most talented musically, but he makes up for it with his lyrics and catchy rythms that he creates instead. His songs can be just flat out weird and funny and some of his songs have complex views on Todays society. He is very smart and it comes through in his music. I reccomend this cd is your into something different and have eclectic tastes.

I bought this CD after hearing the song "Punk Rock Academy" on a comp. album. I love this cd. The first time I put it in I laughed, I cried, I was an Atom and his Package fan!
