INTERESTING CONFLAGRATION,
This review is from: Redemption Dream (Audio CD)
Back in the nineties when I was not the only musician being completely ignored in Atlanta, Michelle Malone had already long been a permanent favorite in town. She was pals with the Indigo Girls et al and part of the scene. Though this particular record has mostly discappeared, and I admit that it has not been in the home rotation for quite a while, I still like the tone of it. It doesn't sound like polished product by today's standards (?), but it has plenty of articulate and fired-up moments. The title tune is excellent and very powerful. She owns a well-regarded voice--authentic with just enough attitude. Among the other great tunes here are: Black River, Sword, The Gathering, Light of Day. Teen Lament is done in a southern rock framework and my favorite line is: "...if Jesus is coming, he better come on--if Jesus is coming, he better move..."--ah, the mystery. Redemption Dream came out in 1994 on Daemon Records with Band de Soleil, an agile outfit of friends. Nicely done. Malone is always happening, has a long and ongoing catalog, and is deserving of a wider fame--including for memorable earlier work like this--an interesting conflagration of tunes.

Great background music...,

Good to just have on in the background of whatever you're doing. Kinda something you would expect to hear in an independent coffee shop or holistic health food store.
