5.0 out of 5 stars Very, very beautiful work
Floria illustrates in this body of work why she's my all-time favorite photographer. Her images are at once both horrifying and beautiful. Her work is beautifully laid out in this book, which is definitely worth any amount of money. This book also comes with a very helpful resource/credit sheet in the front listing photo credits.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disjointed collection, but some arresting work.
Though some of the work is stunning, overall I was disappointed by this book. The emphasis was too much on her Goth work (which pales next to Joel Peter Witkin, an obvious influence). Her self-portraits are amazing, as are her images of Martina and Neneh. I love her sensibility, but I hope she grows out of the old-asylum/goth/bondage/disemboweled/amputee/grotesque...

4.0 out of 5 stars tragically beautiful, June 30, 2003

This review is from: Redemption (Hardcover)
I have always been amazed by Sigismondi's cross-disciplinary genius when it comes to her artpieces. Her work here in Redemption is of tragically beautiful artistry, it reminds me of Joel-Peter Witkin with colour and without the grotesque. Sigismondi's music videos for Manson and Tricky are enveloped in black fantasy, noir and the bizaare, she's like a Gothic Alice in Wonderland.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Beautifully Surreal and Haunted Little Book..., January 14, 2004

Great book, got it from Amazon, which is probably the most affordable, as far as I've researched. Due to its design I suppose, some ink from the pages may come off so be careful with this book!

If you like the macabre, especially Goth culture, this book is for you. It covers a good breadth of her work. Although missing are captions and more coverage of individual projects would be better. There is another book on Sigismondi you should look for as well. I believe it is self-titled under the artist's name.
She also does sculpture, which is missing in this book as well.

Pictures from her seminal works, including music videos of David Bowie, Marilyn Manson, etc and even pictures from her anti-drug TV ad and artwork for her poster for the Toronto Film Festival are all in this book. She is definitely an important artist in the Music Video field. Get this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible, Dark, Eerie, Extremely Creative, April 13, 1999

This review is from: Redemption (Hardcover)
I am a 13-year-old devoted fan of Floria Sigismondi. Not only is her work with such artists like Marilyn Manson and Sheryl Crow's music videos enough to make your jaw drop and your eyes bugged, her book Redemption is screaming Sigismondi. An astonishing collection of eerie and haunted work including photos of Mr. Manson and David Bowie straight out of their music videos that will make you gasp with excitement. If you like scaaary things and stunning dark-side photos that will send an ice-cube chill running down your spine, I strongly suggest you get a copy of this book. The cover alone gives you an idea of what you're going to be involuntarily gaping at. (REVEREND REKK)

I love her sensibility, but I hope she grows out of the old-asylum/goth/bondage/disemboweled/amputee/grotesque thing, which has been done to death. There is some really great work here, but I don't know if I'd pay the $35 ($50 retail) for this book again.

2.0 out of 5 stars Derivative and over-rated., May 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Redemption (Hardcover)
The work in this book is well executed though reminds one of a current crop of well trained art & design students. The shock value turns out to be old hat. When one looks at the material in proper prospective the fact that there is not a genuine original idea running through the book becomes obvious. Many of the images remind one of the earlier work of then cutting edge music video directors.
