5.0 out of 5 stars Must Read October 31, 2011
By Melissa
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Redemption was one of the best books I've read in a long time. When Dayton (Day) suffers a painful loss and is forced into an unhappy situation, she pretty much numbs herself to it, until she turns seventeen and she's unexpectedly pulled into a world she didn't know existed. Handsome strangers appear in her life and suddenly no one, not her family or trusted friends, is who they seemed and she's forced to rely on the one person logic says she shouldn't. Thrown together against their will, they must fight for their lives as she realizes she's part of something bigger (and more dangerous) than she could have ever imagined. It's good stuff! I literally couldn't put it down. Plenty of action, a little romance, tons of suspense. I'll be impatiently awaiting the release of Ransom, the second in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Angels. Demons. Redemption!! March 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Tragedy. Secrets. Revelations. Angels. Demons. Redemption.

In author R.K. Ryals first book in the Redemption series, we are introduced to Dayton. She has lost both of her parents and is sent along with her sister to live with an aunt she has never known. Her aunt is a deeply religious Abbess and the head of a strange religious order. Her best friends are Conner & Monroe. All is normal until Dayton discovers a deep, dark secret. She is a Naphilim, the product of a union between an angel (her father) and a human (her mother). From there she is thrown into a world that she never could imagine. She doesn't know who to trust and to complicate thing more. Dayton discovers that she is bound to a demon named Marcas in hopes that they will create a child. The blood of this child, half demon and half Naphilim, will bring the demonic forces redemption (or so Damon hopes). Now they must work together along with her friends to survive against not only the evil following them but also her aunt's cult that are set to destroy Dayton.

I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. At first I thought it was going to be a simple plot to the angels & demons storyline but I was pleasantly surprised. Dayton is the typical rebel teenager causing trouble. What I liked about it is how Marcas came into the mix. You can tell the is the beginnings of a love triangle at work which of course has you taking sides. There's Conner the golden boy, who Dayton loves as a friend and Marcas. The dark and mysterious demon who has turned his heart to stone because of having loved & lost a woman (an angel) and now is bound to Dayton. I love a bad boy so I would lean towards Marcas ;) I will say that it took a while for the story to pick up. I think I was half-way through the book when it got exciting! We are left with a thrilling climax, which we then have to wait for book 2 to see what happens to the characters!

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!!!! December 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm glad I didn't judge this book by the cover. I started this book and ended up quickly buying the rest of the trilogy.
R.K.Ryals is an amazing writer. The books were descriptive and well written. I couldn't put them down, even when I should have been doing other things. I was thinking about them and even dreaming about them all the time. I really feel like I lost a friend now that I'm done with the trilogy. I will definitely recommend these to other. Thank you Ms. RYALS!

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprising Read December 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'll be honest, there was a moment when I first started reading where I gave consideration to putting this book down and walking away. The beginning wasn't making a whole lot of sense to me and I was finding it difficult to connect with the plot, but I made myself keep going because I really enjoyed Dayton and her friends and was curious to see just where Ryals was going to take things. And I am very glad that I did because this book surprised me, murr! The more I read, the more intrigued I became by it all. And by the time I was done, I definitely wanted to find out what happened next. This is one of those books which is definitely more than it seems at first, that much is for sure.

Dayton is one of those characters that I instantly connected with. Her love of DumDums, rebellious nature, and creative imagination were traits that I immediately became attracted too. She struck me as a typical teenager trying to find her place in the world around her. I loved how she went out of her way to stay true to herself when those of the abby she was being raised at tried to change her. Yes, I get that many people would probably find her to be a bit of a callous character, but I loved her. And her friends were also wonderful. Monroe is one of those girls that I would love to know in real life. She's got a personality that makes her the perfect friend for Dayton, and she definitely adds humor to the story. Conner is an interesting guy, with a secret that I won't spoil for you, but will say was unexpected. And while we don't see much of Lita and Jacin in the book, they also struck me as a couple of fun people to hang out with. It's because of these guys that I kept reading. And once Marcas came into the book, my attention was hooked. He's both annoying and awesome at the same time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Redemption by R K Ryals November 2, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a must read book!

From the begining to the end I could not put this book down. There is a lot of suspense, a little romance, "humor", and things that go bump in the night. I can't wait for Ransom, the second book in this series, to be published and I'll be in line to purchase it. R K Ryals is an outstanding new author and hope to see more from this author soon!

More About the Author

The final release date for Revelation: Redemption series book 4 is May 31, 2015. The final release date for City in Ruins: Scribes of Medeisia book 4 is July 5, 2015. I am so excited about these releases. I know they are a long time coming, and I am so very excited about where they have gone. These characters have meant the world to me and telling their stories has definitely changed my life. Updates on other releases will be announced in the next few months. ~ R.K. Ryals

"Books carried me through my childhood. They carried me through cold nights and hot days, through hunger and fear. I grew up under the poverty level, and my family spent a lot of time telling each other stories to pass the time. I was awkward, clumsy, and different. I was quiet and bookish. I had the same problems as all teenagers. I often felt inadequate and insecure. I was bullied quite frequently. Words carried me. They gave me wings and helped me fly. They brought me through grief and despair, through the death of both of my parents and through the journey that came afterward. With time came knowledge and acceptance, and my love for words grew. Stories mean different things to different people. I tell stories because, through them, I grow as a person and as a writer. Remember, life isn't always easy. There are never guarantees, and we are all different for a reason. Embrace your awkward. Be unique. Change your fairytale. Because what makes you different makes you beautiful."
