5.0 out of 5 stars Great scope for the money
I have used a lot of cheap, and a lot of expensive spotting scopes. I compared it side by side with a Pentax PF-80ed scope which is a thousand dollar scope including the eyepiece, and side by side, I could resolve things better and faster with the Redfield than I could the Pentax! Bang for the buck, I don't know what people are expecting but I could comfortably resolve...

2.0 out of 5 stars Redfield Rampage Spotting Scope Review
I would not recommend this scope if your trying to see clearly with the higher power (40-60). The scope is clear at lower settings but not at higher settings, I am returning mine but will have to spend much more for what I am looking for. The case is suffice and the scope has it's own protective cover also. I did not get to try the pod so I can not comment.

I have used a lot of cheap, and a lot of expensive spotting scopes. I compared it side by side with a Pentax PF-80ed scope which is a thousand dollar scope including the eyepiece, and side by side, I could resolve things better and faster with the Redfield than I could the Pentax! Bang for the buck, I don't know what people are expecting but I could comfortably resolve images at 200 yards at the shooting range with a .17hmr bullet. Thats only the size of a pellet from a pellet gun! For a $200 scope, this comes with a great case, a wonderful scope coat that opens up just the way it should for utilization, but I did replace the cheap tripod. As with the other person, I wish it wasn't made in china, but I would hold this against a lower end Kowa or any Konus scope all day long. For me, I have a Leica 1200 rangefinder and at 400 yards I was EASILY spotting flowers and small little inch long sizes. I could also see bugs flying in the air at 300-400 yards against giant sequoia trees as I was looking through it from home. I don't know why people are rating it so poorly as a 200 dollar scope that is worth MUCH more if you ask me. Bang for the buck, I don't think you can get a better scope.

Never written a review before, but felt compelled to do so considering that I wish more people left reviews on this before I purchased one. Couldn't be more happy with this scope. I don't have a lot of experience with spotting scopes other than what they give you at the range and the ones you can look at in stores. I mainly bought this for my m1 shooting at 300yds. It performed well. It wasn't up close and personal but I could see my target and see where I was hitting. The tripod worked well, I like the carrying case. I'm very happy with this purchase. I did a lot of research before purchasing. Saw this one at the last second and kind of just bit the bullet. Again very happy with the scope for the price! Can't wait to use it more!

If you compare this spotter to a high end Leupold, or better, you will be disappointed. If you take it for what it is, a low end spotter that won't break the bank, then it is great. If I were taking a once in a lifetime sheep hunt, where hours of glassing and studying would be required, this unit WILL NOT be in my pack. The optics are decent, but not crystal clear. I like that it is light, I don't even know it is in my pack. The tripod that comes with it is pretty much worthless. If you spend another $100 or so, you will put yourself in a completely different class of glass.
