For me, this was also the book I was looking for when I started keeping red foots. There are many generic turtle/tortoise books out there, but none go into detail for the red foot like this one. It was very "non biased" providing different alternatives in many aspects of care. It is well worth ordering if you have or are thinking of keeping a red footed tortoise.

I opened this book initially for a quick scan and wound up reading almost all of it immediately. It is well written and extremely informative. I learned things about my redfoots, which I had owned for years, that I never knew. Just as an example, the author said the redfoots enjoy cuttlebones.... I had a box of them as a supply for my finches, so I tossed three in for the tortoises. The next day, I found 3 eggs... and the cuttlebones had almost been completely devoured.
I highly recommend the book.

After spending the last couple of weeks digesting Mike 's new book, " The
Redfoot Manual ", I felt compelled to tell everyone what a great book it is.

It's just the book I wished I had, when I got my first Redfoot , almost 2 years
ago now.

At the same time, I learned a couple of new things, confirmed a bunch of stuff I
already do ( which is always nice), and generally enjoyed reading it.
I highly recommend it to all.

It should be required reading for new redfoot keepers.
It answers all those questions you need answered !

This book is a must have for red foot tortoise owners or anyone interested in buying a red foot tortie. Even if you have other tortoises this particular tortoise is simular in some ways yet very different in others. This book explains common myths amoung red foot tortoise owners. It explains ho w to feed them, what kind of foods to feed them, etc. It explains things like the types of lights that your new tortie will need. It explains different types of houseing, breeding, origin, etc. Just an extremely well written and informative book. Again i t is a must have for any red foot tortie owner!!!

I don't normally read a book from cover to cover, but this one I did. It covers everything you need to keep your Redfoot tortoise healthy and happy.
Beautiful pictures and very well written. Awesome book and by far the best.

Full knowledge of the Redfoot Tortoise. Also, very helpful with general information when going to shows i.e. many turtle dealers are middlemen and really don't know much about the different sptecies

I absolutely loved this book! I sat down and read it in one setting because I just couldn't get enough. Experienced or beginner your bound to learn something. Lots of helpful facts and includes everything you would need to know to raise a redfoot.

I purchased this book about 2 months after receiving my two redfoot tortoise hatchlings, wished I'd bought it prior to getting the torts! Comprehensive care guidelines for hatchlings, adults, breeding, and neonates. If you're going to be a redfoot owner, pick this book up before you build your enclosure or obtain the tortoises. Like the title states, everything a beginner needs to know is in this book.

My husband bought our kids a redfoot and came home with some instuctions on how to care for her. We quickly realized that they were not sufficient and ordered this book. It has helped us immensely.
I would recommend this book for any novice redfoot owner and for anyone contemplating becoming an owner.
