Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
It probably didn't take Bleu brainchild James McAuley III too much effort to entice reclusive Jellyfish frontman Andy Sturmer out of hiding to co-write and sing backup on "Could Be Worse," so potent are the hooks and cascading harmonies on his second full-length album. With Semisonic's Dan Wilson joining the Boston rocker on "Something's Gotta Give," Redhead is an all around power-pop treat with enthusiastic nods to AM radio mainstays like Badfinger and Supertramp, and warm, playful songs like "I Won't Go Hollywood" and "Could Be Worse." "Something Else," which also appears on the Spider Man soundtrack, is an obvious high point, but so is the surging ballad "We'll Do It All Again" and the hidden track "Dance Dance Baby Doll Dance." --Aidin Vaziri

5.0 out of 5 stars Bleu=Nearly Perfect Power Pop, October 31, 2003
This record is just catchy-as-hell, the perfect combination of pop and rock, with plently of fuzzed-out guitars and gorgeous melodies. The guitar riffs are on the heavy side, but are balanced out by great vocals and harmonies. This record is just infectious. I think really anyone would like this, but it's especially a must for anyone who likes Fountains of Wayne, Semisonic, Nada Surf, or any other bands of their ilk. This record also takes the risk of adding the occaisional hair-metal harmonized lead guitar part (as they do on "Could Be Worse"), but it totally works. Really, just buy this record, this guy's got a great voice and superior songwriting skills and the result basically just rules.

Any fan of power pop needs to purchase this cd. Bleu is the Cheap Trick/Knack of the new millenium. Every song on this thing is great. I got it used on here for about $1.75...total bargain! I haven't stopped listening to it since.

5.0 out of 5 stars Power Pop At It's Finest, July 9, 2003
It just doesn't get any better than this. From beginning to end this album is on a mission to rock ! Really focusing on the roots of the eclectic power pop sound, if you listen really hard you pinpoint all the different musical influences in the songs. It's eclectic, but approachable like the Man himself. Bleu is so kind and his music is so Grand.
I hear Beatles, Beach Boys, Elvis Costello, Weezer, Queen, ELO, Shoes, 20/20, Wondermints, maybe some Brendan Benson and more...
I highly recommend this album to anyone looking for some awesome Power Pop... sure to make your summer more fun.... He's even great live! So buy it , and turn it up full volume... And don't forget to listen to the secret tracks!!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Consistently decent
Nothing stands out as being exceptionally good, or exceptionally bad. I can groove to some of the tunes, but I don't think I'd miss the CD if I lost it.
