This review is from: Redington Topwater Pant 30 Inseam in Driftwood (Apparel)
Excellent flats pant. Inner mesh brief is comfortable, material dries very rapidly and is very soft and lightweight. Waistband is comfortable yet snug. Quality greatly exceeds the low price.

5.0 out of 5 stars COOL PANTS, May 23, 2011

This review is on the Redington Topwater Pant 32 Inseam in Barnacle.

After a month's wear and a half dozen washings, I am buying my second pair. They are great for outside work in sweltering weather when mosquitoes are hungry. The loose fit provides plenty of room for all sorts of work-related contortions without binding and pulling. The durability of the fabric is amazing considering the feather-like weight. I sometimes look down to make sure I'm wearing pants. They are cool. It takes only a couple of minutes in the dryer after washing and they are ready to wear. I opted to remove the inner mesh brief and gusseted crotch. It was like wearing two pair of underwear and I prefer my own selection. Another great feature is the strong waistband. My waist is 36 inches. The large size fits me perfectly with about 2 inches of stretch to spare, yet, is strong enough to stay up without a belt. However, if you carry a pound or two of hardware and tools in the pockets, a belt might be needed. The belt loops are reinforced and heavy duty. They'll likely outlast the loops on jeans which I wear out rather quickly. If tools are needed, use a tool belt and let the pants float in the breeze. It's more comfortable.

For me, the extra cost for convertible pants with the zip-off legs are a waste of money. I wore out a pair in 3 years and never once removed the legs. Besides, the zippers around the legs only added weight, heat and bulk. These Redington pants are made in Vietnam. So far, they haven't given me nightmares like being in Vietnam did back in the sixties.
